Iridofundal Coloboma Associated with Vitreous Haemorrhage and an Intraocular Mass: A Case Report.

INTRODUCTION: Iridofundal colobomas, being developmental defects, are known to be accompanied by several ocular anomalies but an association with vitreous hemorrhage and an intraocular mass has not been reported earlier. CASE: We report a case of an 18 years old subject having iridofundal coloboma in both eyes and an association of vitreous hemorrhage and an intraocular mass in the left eye. The diagnosis was confirmed with a detailed ocular examination, fundus fluorescein angiography, swept-source optical coherence tomography and ultrasonography. The laser barrage of coloboma caused a regres

Multidisciplinary Approach for Retinoblastoma Management.

We read with keen interest the article by Shah et al "Pathologic Risk Factor in Retinoblastoma: An Institutional Experience Based on Analysis of Enucleated Eyes"(Shah A et al, 2012). They have highlighted high-risk histopathological features in Retinoblastoma with retrolaminar optic nerve invasion being the most common and also showed statistically significant correlation of high risk histological features with tumor size and AJCC stage of tumor. Their aim to assess the frequency and spectrum of high risk histopathological features in enucleated specimens of retinoblastoma was successful which

Managing Recurrent Orbital Lymphangioma in a Pubertal Female with Negative Pressure Aspiration and Intralesional Bleomycin Injection: A Case Report.

INTRODUCTION: Management of orbital lymphangioma is challenging. Complete surgical excision is often impossible due to its infiltrative nature. Sclerosing agents have been used in its management with variable outcomes. We report a case of recurrent orbital lymphangioma managed with intralesional bleomycin. CASE: A 14-year-old female presented with proptosis of the right eye for two weeks. She had a similar history at five years of age for which she underwent surgical excision. We performed negative pressure aspiration using a 20-gauge angiocatheter, injected bleomycin, and left the cannula in

Anterior Segment Findings in Ocular Myocysticercosis in Children: Is it non- specific?

Ocular cysticercosis is a preventable cause of blindness. Medical therapy has been recommended for the retro-orbital and extraocular muscle form. Surgical management is largely done in cases with conjunctival or lid affliction. Though, the medical management is simple; however, the diagnosis is challenging. The anterior segment findings often mimic the more common pathologies and hence often missed at the early stage. This case series of 3 pediatric patients, tries to highlight certain clinical clues which are suggestive of ocular myocysticercosis in children. Literature often recalls anterior

Canalicular Curettage to the Rescue: a report of three cases.

INTRODUCTION: Canalicular curettage is a surgical procedure used to remove canalicular contents and debris from canaliculi. It is usually indicated for chronic, persistent or recalcitrant canalicular diseases with no resolution of symptoms after conservative management. We describe 3 different cases of persistent canalicular diseases which needed canalicular curettage to rescue from the conditions leading to successful outcomes. Cases and observations: • Case 1: A 45-year-old male presented with recurrent punctal granuloma 3 months after DCR surgery. Canalicular exploration and curettage with

Bevacizumab in Retinopathy of Prematurity : Concerns and adverse effects.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) ranks as one of the leading causes of blindness in the paediatric age group, the incidence of which is increasing in developing countries as the economy strengthens and healthcare practices improve. As a vasoproliferative disorder affecting premature neonates VEGF is said to play a vital role in the pathogenesis of ROP. Evidence of the efficacy of anti-VEGF agents in treatment of ROP have been seen in literature since early 2007 with most published reports being either case studies or small case series. The only randomised controlled trial in this regard was th
