Thirty-three limb segments with various deformities in 28 children were treated by external fixation. Sole bone lengthenings and trauma cases were excluded from this study. The authors present nine patients with congenital pseudarthrosis of the forearm. The reconstruction was carried out in two stages. At the first stage, Ilizarov's device was applied to the forearm in order to lengthen the affected extremity and to eliminate deformity. At the second stage, the bone defect was replaced a with free vascularized fibula osteoseptocutaneous graft. All patients had complete survival of the transferred fibula grafts. Bone consolidation was achieved in 4 to 6 months after the reconstruction.

We reviewed the cases of eight unrelated children who had an unusual form of enchondromatosis characterized by unilateral enchondromas arising within the epiphyseal and metaphyseal regions of the long tubular bones of the lower extremity. Unlike previously described enchondromas, the lesions developed extensively within the epiphysis before closure of the growth plate and there was direct extension across the epiphyseal growth plate into the metaphysis.
