BACKGROUND: Pesticide poisoning remains a major global health concern contributing to an estimated 371,594 deaths annually. Both accidental and deliberate pesticide exposure, particularly in developing countries, pose challenges to public health systems. In KSA, pesticide poisoning is prevalent, and insecticides such as carbamates and organophosphates are the primary culprits.

Inhibition of acetylcholinesterase by either organophosphates or carbamates causes anti-cholinesterase poisoning. This arises through a wide range of neurotoxic effects triggered by the overstimulation of the cholinergic receptors at synapses and neuromuscular junctions. More than one thousand of patients with more than two thousand of Echinococcus granulosus hydatid cysts were observed during the last 20 years. Brief notes are given on drugs which have been tested at the Onchocerciasis Chemotherapy Research Centre at Tamale and Hohoe and found to have activity against Onchocerca volvulus. The title compound, [Pd(C20H31ClNS2)2], crystallizes about an inversion centre in the monoclinic space group C2/c. The PdII cation adopts a square-planar coordination geometry defined by four sulfur atoms from two N-(4-chloro-benz-yl)-N-do-decyl-dithio-carbamate anions. The crystal packing features C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, which form a belt motif. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that H⋯H (62.9%), S⋯H/H⋯S (14.0%) and Cl⋯H/H⋯Cl (11.1%) contacts dominate the inter-molecular inter-actions.

Spinel ferrite magnetic nanoparticles, MnFe2O4, NiFe2O4, and CoFe2O4, were synthesized and used as gas-phase adsorbents for the removal of cyanogen chloride from dry air. The Sn atom in the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)(C(8)H(16)NS(2))], is penta-coordinated by two S atoms, derived from an asymmetrically coordinating dithio-carbamate ligand, and three ipso-C atoms. The coordination geometry is inter-mediate between square-pyramidal and trigonal-bipyramidal, with a leaning towards the latter. The presence of close intra-molecular C-H⋯S contacts preclude the S atoms from forming significant inter-molecular inter-actions. Rather, mol-ecules are consolid-ated in the crystal structure by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

A novel one-step method of preparing polysubstituted guanidinoglucosides using peracetylated methyl 6-deoxy-6-thioureidoglucosides as starting materials and employing HgO in combination with molecular sieves as an efficient catalyst is reported. The structures of three methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-acetyl-6-[N(2)-(benzothiazol-2-yl)-N(3)-(oxydi-1,2-ethandiyl)]guanidino-6-deoxy-alpha-d-glucopyranosides were unambiguously confirmed by X-ray crystallography. The methodology affords new compounds in good yields and also provides a promising route for the synthesis of carbamate-protected guanidines.
