Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a progressive liver disease driven by chronic inflammation and fibrosis, yet the immune mechanisms behind it remain unclear. Astrocytes can adopt multiple molecular phenotypes in the brain of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. BACKGROUND: Acne vulgaris (AV) is an inflammatory skin disorder that may be associated with metabolic disorders. The relation between lipid profile in acne is not widely investigated. Chitinase-3-like protein 1 (YKL-40) has been found to be implicated in different inflammatory conditions.
AIMS: We aimed at investigating the role YKL-40 in acne pathogenesis and associated dyslipidemia in acne patients.

INTRODUCTION: Four less well-studied but promising "emerging" cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers are elevated in late-onset Alzheimer disease (AD): neurogranin, synaptosomal-associated protein-25 (SNAP-25), visinin-like protein 1 (VILIP-1), and chitinase-3-like protein 1 (YKL-40).

Coccidioides spp. (immitis and posadasii) are the causative agents of human coccidioidomycosis. AIMS: We determined levels of the inflammatory marker YKL-40 in a population of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and investigated the association with mortality.
