INTRODUCTION: Pulmonary Cryptococcosis (PC) is an invasive pulmonary fungal disease caused by cryptococcal infection, with diagnosis being challenging and prone to misdiagnosis. This research comprehensively analyzes the clinical, imaging, and pathological characteristics of PC, aiming to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic proficiency for PC.

CASE SUMMARY: A 2-year-old domestic longhair crossbred female cat was referred for a second opinion on a non-healing surgical wound after left eye enucleation. In addition to the left orbital lesion, ulcerative granular masses protruding from the left nostril and on the base of the left ear were noted. A 34-year-old man with a recent HIV diagnosis presented to the emergency department with a holocranial headache and skin lesions due to cryptococcosis. He was admitted and during treatment, he presented nausea, persistent vomiting, and epigastric pain. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed multiple round lesions with reddish elevated edges and a pale center in corpus and antrum which were positive for Cryptococcus in pathology analysis.

We review herein infections by Conidiobolus spp., Cryptococcus spp., and Aspergillus spp. in sheep and goats. A domestic cat was presented for lethargy and coughing. Thoracic radiographs identified a mass within the right cranial lung lobe and a nodule in the left cranial lung lobe.
