Young Adults' Visual Attention to, Unaided Recall, and Perspectives of Tobacco Public Education Messages: An Experimental Eye-Tracking Study.

INTRODUCTION: Mass-reach tobacco public education campaigns may need to be optimized for marginalized populations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) young adults (YA). We examined attention to and unaided recall of culturally targeted (CT) tobacco education among LGBTQ+ YA in an experimental trial. AIMS AND METHODS: LGBTQ+ YA reporting current nicotine or tobacco (N/T) use completed a baseline survey, eye-tracking experiment (viewing 8 CT or nontargeted stimuli), and a postsurvey. Areas of interest (AOIs) were harms message, efficacy message, and image. We comp

Obstetric ultrasound: who should perform sonograms?

Obstetric ultrasound has revolutionized clinical practice by expanding knowledge of fetal growth, physiology, and behavior, and allowing the fetus to emerge as a treatable patient. This dramatic change in clinical practice has not been accompanied by a growth in education or guidelines for the performance of ultrasound studies. This article reviews some of the many professional issues that are still unresolved, such as education, level of care providers, office versus hospital scanning sites, level of ultrasound study, legal issues, obstetrics versus radiology as appropriate specialties to per

Predicting nurses' behavioral intention to adopt artificial intelligence in a resource-limited setting: an extended technology acceptance model study in Iran.

BACKGROUND: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into healthcare systems has the potential to substantially enhance clinical decision-making, workflow efficiency, and quality of patient care. However, the successful implementation of AI technologies largely depends on their acceptance by frontline healthcare providers, particularly nurses. While the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been widely used to explain technology adoption, evidence remains limited regarding the role of nurses' cognitive and attitudinal factors in resource-limited settings. METHODS: A cross-sectional ana

The Effects of a Technology-Assisted Hybrid Cardiac Rehabilitation (TecHCR) Program for Adults With Coronary Heart Disease: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Technology-assisted interventions offer a promising alternative to conventional cardiac rehabilitation. However, there is limited evidence on their effectiveness, particularly in non-Western settings with emphasis on exercise self-efficacy. AIMS: To evaluate the effects of a 12-week, technology-assisted hybrid cardiac rehabilitation (TecHCR) program on physical, physiological, and psychological outcomes of patients with coronary heart disease. METHODS: A two-arm parallel randomized controlled trial including 160 participants was randomly assigned to either TecHCR or usual care. T

Knowledge and perception as determinants of CRISPR application for infectious diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa: a multi-country study in Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone using regression and structural equation models.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Infectious diseases, particularly acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), remain a major global health burden, especially in low- and middle-income countries, despite advances in antiretroviral therapy. Emerging genome-editing technologies, such as CRISPR/Cas systems, hold promise for transforming the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. However, little is known about how these technologies are understood and perceived by individuals in high-burden regions, where significant implementation challenges may limit t

Challenges in and Opportunities for Individualizing Diabetes Technology: A Position Statement by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes Technology Working Group.

From finger-stick blood glucose monitoring and mechanical insulin pens in the 1970s to modern automated insulin delivery systems, rapidly progressing advances in diabetes technology are transforming management options for people with diabetes, particularly those with type 1 diabetes but also, increasingly, people with type 2 diabetes. However, access to life-changing diabetes technologies is neither uniform nor universally covered, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. In this position statement, we emphasize to health care professionals the importance of supporting individuals with diab

Dyslexia as a moderator in the relationship between short video learning perception and behavioral intention among Chinese college students: A cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Dyslexia research in China is crucial because of limited awareness, lack of tools, and insufficient support. These issues seriously hinder students' academic success. To address this gap, this study examines how history-related short videos on social media platforms influence the learning behavior of students with dyslexia. This study introduces dyslexia as a moderating variable within the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework for the first time, addressing a significant gap in understanding how learning differences influence technology adoption in educational contexts. Histo

Impacts of Posthumanism on Nursing Education.

Nursing education has long operated within humanistic and anthropocentric epistemological frameworks that centre the autonomous rational human subject as both the object and agent of care. While these foundations have shaped core professional values, they increasingly fail to account for the relational, sociomaterial, and more-than-human conditions that characterise contemporary nursing practice. This paper draws on critical posthumanism, particularly as theorised by Rosi Braidotti, to examine what a posthumanist reorientation of nursing education might look like and what it might demand. The

Partial progress in sexual and reproductive health and rights: the influence of sociocultural, behavioural, structural, and technological changes on epidemiological trends.

The concept of sexual and reproductive health and rights has evolved in the 21st century from previous narrower conceptualisations. In 2018, the Guttmacher-Lancet Commission proposed a broader and integrated defining framework, together with a package of essential health service elements. Despite this, progress on the sexual and reproductive health agenda has been inconsistent, with progress in some areas and considerable gaps in others. Even in areas that have seen breakthroughs in biomedicine and technology, progress has been partial owing to inadequacies in funding, policy, and implementati

Investigating the Writing Achievement of Deaf Learners.

This study investigated writing achievement in a Canadian cohort of school-aged deaf learners (N = 64). In the current context, in which most students are educated in inclusive settings and use hearing technologies, the goal was to establish whether outcomes approach those of hearing-age peers and identify demographic factors (e.g., gender, grade, additional disability, home language, hearing loss, hearing technology, auditory perception) influencing performance. Results indicated that a high percentage of participants performed in the average range or higher on a standardized, norm-referenced

Innovative treatment formats, technologies, and clinician trainings that improve access to behavioral pain treatment for youth and adults.

Chronic pain is prevalent across the life span and associated with significant individual and societal costs. Behavioral interventions are recommended as the gold-standard, evidence-based interventions for chronic pain, but barriers, such as lack of pain-trained clinicians, poor insurance coverage, and high treatment burden, limit patients' ability to access evidenced-based pain education and treatment resources. Recent advances in technology offer new opportunities to leverage innovative digital formats to overcome these barriers and dramatically increase access to high-quality, evidenced-bas

Factors influencing Internet usage in older adults (65 years and above) living in rural and urban Sweden.

Older adults living in rural and urban areas have shown to distinguish themselves in technology adoption; a clearer profile of their Internet use is important in order to provide better technological and health-care solutions. Older adults' Internet use was investigated across large to midsize cities and rural Sweden. The sample consisted of 7181 older adults ranging from 59 to 100 years old. Internet use was investigated with age, education, gender, household economy, cognition, living alone/or with someone and rural/urban living. Logistic regression was used. Those living in rural areas used
