A 34-year-old man presented with progressive myelopathy 4 months after cadaveric renal transplant for endstage renal disease. Radiographic evaluation gave findings consistent with epidural lipomatosis and compression of the thoracic thecal sac. Decompressive laminectomy resulted in dramatic improvement of his neurologic deficit. This case is unusual in the brevity of steroid treatment prior to onset of the myelopathy, as well as the relatively small dose. The 10 previous cases of epidural lipomatosis are also reviewed.

We report eleven cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) revealed by epidural involvement treated at the Pitié Salpêtrière Tumor Center over ten years. This condition is uncommon. The tumor can be excised after laminectomy, thus establishing diagnosis. Rather than on histological type, prognosis is dependent on the presence or absence of associated vertebral involvement. Bismuth iodoform paraffin paste (BIPP) is used in dressings in ear, nose, and throat, dental, and neurosurgical practice. Neurotoxicity due to absorption of bismuth from the BIPP pack is rare. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of 125I seed interstitial implantation brachytherapy for metastatic epidural spinal cord compression (MESCC) as well as the life quality of patients.

Vertebral hemangiomas can cause difficult-to-treat neurological complications. We report our experience with three such cases. BACKGROUND: Metastatic epidural spinal cord compression (MESCC) are the most serious debilitating morbidities of spine metastases (SpMs) causing devastating neurological damages. We still lack of reliable markers to predict neurological impairment.
METHODS: A prospective cohort study collected 164 consecutive patients presenting with MESCC between January 2014-2021, divided in two groups: ambulatory (Frankel D-E) vs non-ambulatory (Frankel A-C). We compared the oncological and radiological characteristics of the MESCC in the 131 ambulatory patients to the 33 non-ambulatory patients.

INTRODUCTION: Cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraoperative chemotherapy (HITHOC) is a therapeutic option for treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma. Anesthetic management might be challenging.

We described a case of ventricular fibrillation in patients with Brugada type electrocardiogram (ECG) during surgery. Thirty-five patients (ASA II-III) aged 12 to 17 years, diagnosed as having osteogenic sarcoma and Ewing's sarcoma localizing in the femur and tibia, were examined. Surgery was performed as sectoral resection of the affected bone along with knee joint endoprosthesis. Surgical intervention was made under combined spinal and epidural anesthesia (CSEA) with sedation, by using the methods for exact dosing of propofol (6-4 mg/kg x h). During intervention, a child's respiration remains is kept spontaneous with oxygen insufflation through a nasal catheter. CSEA was performed in two-segmental fashion.

A 25 year old lady underwent surgery for a left occipital falcine meningioma. The patient was positioned prone and following an occipital carniotomy, total excision of the tumour was performed. In the postoperative period, she developed bifrontal epidural haematomas, for which surgical evacuation was performed. Intracerebral haematomas distant from the site of craniotomies are uncommon and epidural haematomas are extremely rare. The literature is reviewed and the possible mechanisms causing this complication are discussed.

Ganglioneuromas are benign and slow-growing tumors that most commonly originate from the sympathetic trunk. Ganglioneuromas often decrease in size and rarely require reoperation. Changes in gait or the onset of limb pain without a discernible local cause are indications for investigation of patients for possible intraspinal pathology. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy who presented with seemingly static symptoms, while the slow-growing tumor had enveloped nerve roots and caused bone destruction of the vertebrae.
