A 62-year-old female presented to our institution with dimness of vision in her right eye. On examination, her best corrected visual acuity was 20/100 in the right eye. CASE REPORT: Shortly after birth, a massive enlargement of the right eye was observed in an otherwise healthy male child. The cornea of the affected eye was vascularized and completely cloudy without a sharp border between cornea and sclera. The diagnosis of a congenital glaucoma was made but an operation was not undertaken because of the difficult anatomical situation and the lost function. PURPOSE: To describe the clinical signs, management, histopathologic findings, and outcome of three dogs with a corneocentric presentation of nodular granulomatous episcleritis (NGE).
METHODS: Three dogs of varying breeds were presented for a unilateral, nonpainful, and infiltrative corneal lesion in the dorsal aspect of the eye. Clinical response to symptomatic topical treatment directed at a presumed inflammatory or immune-mediated cause was poor. Due to this, and concerns of neoplasia, ultrasonography (n = 1), incisional biopsy (n = 2), and/or enucleation (n = 2) were performed.

BACKGROUND: Basidiomycetes are known as rare pathogens for meningitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, ulcerative lesions of the hard palate and onychomycosis. To our knowledge, no filamentous basidiomycete has been reported from a case of fungal endophthalmitis.

Tuberculosis is a ubiquitous disease and a public health problem of major importance in almost all developing and underdeveloped countries. It can involve any part of the body, including the eye. We report a case of a young child presenting with a painful blind eye with leucocoria, where a misdiagnosis of retinoblastoma was made clinically. The eye was enucleated, and subsequent pathological examination led to a final diagnosis of ocular tuberculosis. The patient was put on anti-tubercular treatment, and responded well.

Streptococcus pneumoniae endophthalmitis is clinically more severe, more difficult to treat, and carry a higher risk of vision loss, evisceration, or enucleation. This study is to investigate the clinical settings, antibiotic susceptibility, and visual outcomes of S. pneumoniae endophthalmitis at a tertiary referral center in Taiwan. S. pneumoniae endophthalmitis was diagnosed in 38 eyes of 38 patients.
