Two brothers of normal not consanguineous parents, with bilateral intrabdominal cryptorchidism, were admitted to our Institution. Both children had short stature, limb and hand malformations and craniofacial patterns of Robinow syndrome. During the orchidopexy, bilateral epididymal and vasal abnormalities were found in both of them. This anomaly associated with Robinow syndrome has never been reported before. These two cases provides the Authors with the opportunity of reviewing clinical features, genetics and radiological patterns of this rare syndrome.

The diagnosis of Freeman-Sheldon syndrome was made by ultrasonographic evaluation of a 20-week fetus with a positive family history. The ultrasonographic features were abnormalities of the extremities and mouth.

A new syndrome was delineated by Shprintzen and Goldberg (1982) based on the description of two patients with scaphocephaly, facial dysmorphism, arachnodactyly, mental retardation and other connective tissue defects. Sugarman and Vogel (1981) reported another child with the same overall pattern of anomalies. A fourth patient with normal mental development was described by Furlong et al. (1987) as a new syndrome. We report on another example of marfanoid features associated with craniosynostosis. This boy has no mental retardation and the case seems to be similar to the Furlong case but differe

An unusual case of Bardet-Biedl syndrome which presented with sudden total visual loss in both eyes is documented. The fundus picture and angiographic findings were consistent with the diagnosis of bilateral disc oedema with retinitis pigmentosa. The various etiological possibilities resulting in the manifestation of bilateral disc oedema in this case of retinitis pigmentosa are considered. Inflammatory disc oedema secondary to photoreceptor degeneration as a possible cause of acute loss of vision in retinitis pigmentosa is discussed.

A 22-year-old black man noted punctate macular hyperpigmentation of the distal dorsal extremities around the age of 5 years. The hyperpigmentation progressed proximally and became confluent, forming a reticulated pattern. Dermatopathology revealed increased basal melanization. Keratosis palmaris et plantaris began at the age of 19 and steadily became more severe. Body and facial hair was scant, and scalp hair required cutting once every 2 years. Teeth developed normally but were carious. Fingernails were normal, but all toenails demonstrated thickening and transverse imbrications. Sperm counts

An 13-year-old mentally normal boy with short-trunked dwarfism is discribed as a case of the Smith-McCort syndrome (SMC-syndrome). His disease has been observed radiologically, clinically an histologically for many years. According to Spranger (23) this disorder differs from the Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen disease (DMC-syndrome) by lacking oligophrenia. Beside a characteristic flattening of the vertebral bodies both syndromes show a lacelike appearance of the iliac crest (crest sign) as a significant radiological sign. Both syndromes appear to be inherited as an autosomal recessive trait.

Urinary mucopolysaccharides from three patients with acheiropodia were qualitatively and quantitatively analysed by agar gel electrophoresis coupled with enzymatic degradation. Although no abnormal pattern was characterized, eventual metabolic dysfunction detected only in bone/cartilage tissues could not be ruled out.

OBJECTIVE: Of study is improving the results of treatment of patients with pyo-necrotic complications of diabetic foot syndrome by including the method of negative pressure wound treatment in the complex treatment program in combination with using of the combined antibacterial drug Cifran ST and immunocorrective therapy.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The results of examination and treatment of 184 patients with pyo-necrotic complications of the neuropathic form of diabetic foot syndrome were analyzed. According to choice of treatment methods in the postoperative period all patients were divided into

Polydactyly is a congenital anomaly with a wide range of manifestations that occurs in many forms, ranging from varying degrees of mere splitting to completely duplicated thumb. When duplication occurs alone, it is usually unilateral and sporadic. In this case report, I report left hand polydactyly with 2 more fingers on 5th finger in a 6 month old male. He subsequently underwent surgical correction, and the over number thumb was removed with associated meticulous skeletal and soft tissue reconstruction. Polydactyly is the most common congenital digital anomaly of the hand and foot. It can occ

14q22q23 microdeletion syndrome, also called Frias syndrome, is an extremely rare partial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 14 characterized by the anomalies of the pituitary gland, eyes, and hand/foot. Intellectual disability and facial dysmorphism are other common manifestations. Haploinsufficiency of the genes bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) and orthodenticle homeobox 2 (OTX2) accounts for most of the phenotypic abnormalities seen in these patients. There are only a few cases reported with Frias syndrome in the literature, and there are multiple variations present, which are not we

1q43q44 microdeletion syndrome is characterized by intellectual disability/global developmental delay, epilepsy, dysmorphic facies, stereotypic movement, language delay, recurrent infections, dental anomalies, and hand and foot anomalies. Microcephaly and corpus callosum dysplasia are present in some cases depending on gene content. 3q29 microduplication syndrome is characterized by intellectual disability, language delay, microcephaly, and dental anomalies. We report the first case with 4 de novo copy number variations with clinical features which overlap 1q43q44 microdeletion and 3q29 microd

Poland syndrome, which is characterized by an absence of pectoralis muscles and their innervated nerves, is marked by variable chest wall defects due to deficits of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th ribs and costal cartilage. Additionally, there are other reported combined anomalies of the heart, lung, kidney, ipsilateral hand and foot associated with the syndrome. The lung on the side with the thoracic deformity is more hypoplastic or smaller than the lung on the unaffected side, which can cause herniation of the lung or paradoxical ventilatory movement in severe cases, thereby increasing the risk of re
