Comparative evaluation of child and adolescent psychiatric-mental health nursing care plans generated by ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek: A cross-sectional text analysis.

Large language models are increasingly used in nursing documentation and education, but their value for child and adolescent psychiatric-mental health nursing care planning remains uncertain. This cross-sectional comparative text-analysis study evaluated care-plan texts generated by ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek. Thirty child and adolescent psychiatric-mental health nursing diagnoses were entered using a standardized prompt, producing 90 care plans. Text characteristics, reference accessibility, seven readability formulas from two calculators, DISCERN scores, and reliability indicators were su

Effects of China's current Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan on air pollution patterns, health risks and mortalities in Beijing 2014-2018.

Beijing is one of the most polluted cities in the world. However, the "Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan" (APPCAP), introduced since 2013 in China, has created an unprecedented drop in pollution concentrations for five major pollutants, except O3, with a significant drop in mortalities across most parts of the city. To assess the effects of APPCAP, air pollution data were collected from 35 sites (divided into four types, namely, urban, suburban, regional background, and traffic) in Beijing, from 2014 to 2018 and analyzed. Simultaneously, health-risk based air quality index (HAQI

How Returning Aggregate Research Results Impacts Interest in Research Engagement and Planned Actions Relevant to Health Care Decision Making: Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: Collection of patient-reported outcomes measures (PROs) may augment clinical data and inform health research, improving care, yet approaches to sustaining interest among patient cohorts in research participation are needed. One approach may involve returning aggregate research results (ARRs), which may help patients contextualize personal experiences, prompt conversations with providers or family, and encourage information seeking. This model has been demonstrated for Web-based patient-centered registries. Studies with clinical cohorts may further elucidate the model, its impacts o

Prevalence of reported physical health problems in people with severe or profound intellectual and motor disabilities: a cross-sectional study of medical records and care plans.

BACKGROUND: People with severe or profound intellectual and motor disabilities (SPIMD) experience numerous serious physical health problems and comorbidities. Knowledge regarding the prevalence of these problems is needed in order to detect and treat them at an early stage. Data concerning these problems in individuals with SPIMD are limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of reported physical health problems in adults with SPIMD through a review of medical records and care plans. METHOD: We conducted a cross-sectional study employing data obtained from medic

Reviewing a clinical decision aid for the selection of anticoagulation treatment in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation: applications in a US managed care health plan database.

PURPOSE: The Clinical Decision Aid was created to assist in selecting anticoagulant therapies for patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. The aid incorporates a patient's absolute risk for stroke and bleeding, relative stroke risk reduction, and increase in relative bleeding risk to identify the agent with the lowest net risk. We describe theoretical implications of utilizing the aid at a US managed care population level. METHODS: This retrospective study used claims data from a large US managed care database including enrollees in commercial and Medicare Advantage plans. The distribut

Dysplasia and carcinoma in situ of the uterine cervix: prevalence in very young women (under age 22). A one-year study in a health plan population.

An increased number of cervical epithelial abnormalities has been observed in women up to and including 21 years of age. The prevalence and incidence of dysplasia in adolescents and young women is increasing at a time when the incidence of cervical carcinoma is decreasing. We studied 247 women under age 22 with "other than negative" cytologic diagnoses identified during a one-year period (1973) in which approximately 27,500 women in this age group were screened. The prevalence rates of "other than negative" cytology and "other than negative" cytology with confirmed histopathologic abnormalitie

Predictors of male partners' behavioral intentions and cognitive readiness toward maternal health service utilization in rural Tanzania: an application of the theory of planned behavior.

BACKGROUND: Men are not only heads and decision-makers in most families, but they also heavily influence the healthcare access of their female partners and/or children. However, low male spousal accompaniment at health facilities remains a persistent public health challenge in rural Tanzania. While structural barriers are well documented, there is a lack of evidence regarding the behavioral intention factors that drive this men's physical disengagement from clinical spaces. Understanding these internal drivers is critical for designing effective targeted interventions to improve maternal servi

Impact of a Reproductive Health Survivorship Care Plan on Fertility, Pregnancy Concerns, and Accessing Reproductive Healthcare Among Young Nulliparous Breast Cancer Survivors.

BACKGROUND: Young patients with breast cancer frequently receive chemotherapy and/or endocrine therapy that adversely affect ovarian function, leading to fertility, pregnancy, and other reproductive health concerns. Despite available evidence-based management strategies, dissemination to survivors and healthcare providers remains limited, resulting in substantial unmet informational and care needs. Web-based survivorship care plans may offer an effective approach to address these gaps. AIMS: To evaluate the effect of a web-based Reproductive Health Survivorship Care Plan (SCP-R) on reproducti

Goal alignment and unintended consequences of accountable care: How the structure of Oregon's Medicaid coordinated care model shapes health plan-clinic partnerships.

INTRODUCTION: Accountable care models for Medicaid reimbursement aim to improve care quality and reduce costs by linking payments to performance. Oregon's coordinated care organizations (CCOs) assume financial responsibility for their members and are incentivized to help clinics improve performance on specific quality metrics. This study explores how Oregon's CCO model influences partnerships between payers and primary care clinics, focusing on strategies used to enhance screening and treatment for unhealthy alcohol use (UAU). METHODS: In this qualitative study, we conducted semi-structured i

States' racial resentment correlates with administrative distancing and lower rates of health plan selection in affordable care act marketplaces: a cross sectional analysis.

BACKGROUND: In the United States, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) pursued equity in healthcare access and treatment, but ACA implementation varied, especially limiting African Americans' gains. Marketplaces for subsidized purchase of coverage were sometimes implemented with limited outreach and enrollment assistance efforts. Reflecting state's ACA receptivity or reluctance, state's implementation may rest on sociopolitical stances and racial sentiments. Some states were unwilling to provide publicly supported healthcare to nonelderly, non-disabled adults- "the undeserving poor" -who evoke anti-b

Statistical analysis plan for management of hypertension and multiple risk factors to enhance cardiovascular health in Singapore: the SingHypertension pragmatic cluster randomized controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Cardiovascular disease (O'Lone E, Viecelli AK, Craig JC, Tong A, Sautenet B, Herrington WG, et al., Am J Kidney Dis 76(1):109-20, 2020) remains the leading cause of death in Singapore. Uncontrolled hypertension confers the highest attributable risk of CVD and remains a significant public health issue with sub-optimal blood pressure (BP) control rates. The aim of the trial is to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a multicomponent intervention (MCI) versus usual care on lowering BP among adults with uncontrolled hypertension visiting primary care clinics in Singap

Estimating the prevalence of neurosurgical interventions in adults with spina bifida using the Health Facts data set: implications for transition planning and the development of adult clinics.

OBJECTIVE: As the care of patients with spina bifida continues to evolve, life expectancy is increasing, leading to a critical need for transition planning from pediatric-based to adult-based care. The burden of neurosurgical care for adults with spina bifida remains unknown. In this study, the authors sought to use a large national data set to estimate the prevalence of neurosurgical interventions in adults with spina bifida. METHODS: This study utilized Health Facts, which is a de-identified proprietary data set abstracted from all Cerner electronic health records. It includes 69 million un

Impact of integrating a postpartum family planning program into a community-based maternal and newborn health program on birth spacing and preterm birth in rural Bangladesh.

BACKGROUND: Short birth intervals are associated with an increased risk of adverse perinatal outcomes. However, reduction of rates of short birth intervals is challenging in low-resource settings where majority of the women deliver at home with limited access to family planning services immediately after delivery. This study examines the feasibility of integrating a post-partum family planning intervention package within a community-based maternal and newborn health intervention package, and evaluates the impact of integration on reduction of rates of short birth intervals and preterm births.

Predictive values of diagnostic codes for identifying serious hypocalcemia and dermatologic adverse events among women with postmenopausal osteoporosis in a commercial health plan database.

BACKGROUND: Post-marketing safety studies of medicines often rely on administrative claims databases to identify adverse outcomes following drug exposure. Valid ascertainment of outcomes is essential for accurate results. We aim to quantify the validity of diagnostic codes for serious hypocalcemia and dermatologic adverse events from insurance claims data among women with postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO). METHODS: We identified potential cases of serious hypocalcemia and dermatologic events through ICD-9 diagnosis codes among women with PMO within claims from a large US healthcare insurer (J
