OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Excitotoxic and related inflammatory injury are implicated in the spiral ganglion degeneration seen with Meniere's disease and endolymphatic hydrops (ELH). Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a standard treatment for vestibular schwannoma but is associated with a substantial risk of progressive and irreversible hearing loss. An 11-year-old child with sudden post-traumatic sensorineural hearing loss regained his hearing functions after sneezing. This case report is a first in medical literature in describing recovery from hearing loss by sneezing. The therapeutic implications of this rare case deserve further investigation.
