BACKGROUND: There are no cases described in the medical literature of systemic allergic reactions due to oregano (Origanum vulgare) or thyme (Thymus vulgaris). These herbs belong to the Lamiaceae (Labiatae) family which comprises other plants such as hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), basil (Ocimum basilicum), marjoram (Origanum majorana), mint (Mentha piperita), sage (Salvia officinalis) and lavender (Lavandula officinalis).

Clinically, the diagnosis "pyoderma gangraenosum" can easily be made on the basis of typical skin features. It has been agreed, so far, that numerous immune deficiencies may play a key role in the pathogenesis of this disease. On reviewing the recent case reports, we observe a change regarding the associated diseases in more than 50%: Whereas earlier reports refer to ulcerative colitis as the most frequent concomitant disease, we now find increasing evidence of hematologic problems in association with pyoderm gangraenosum.

Hypersensitivity to beta-lactams (BL) is the most frequent drug allergy, and skin testing (ST) remains the first-line diagnostic tool. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Diflunisal is a difluorophenyl derivative of salicylic acid. We report two patients who presented immediate adverse reactions to diflunisal (Dolobid) that consisted of generalized urticaria and chest tightness.
METHODS: Diflunisal was conjugated to human serum albumin in order to perform in vivo and in vitro tests (skin prick and intradermal tests, leukocyte histamine release, and RAST). BACKGROUND: Reports about side effects from cromolyn sodium (DSCG) are few and only a minority of them indicate the possibility of an immediate type I hypersensitivity reaction.
METHODS: We report an 8-year-old boy with a history of seasonal rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma. The patient reported two immediate episodes of acute asthma following inhalation of a cromolyn sodium (DSCG) capsule with an interval of 6 months. The latter occasion was also associated with conjunctivitis and generalized urticaria, requiring emergency treatment.

Tranexamic acid (TXA) allergy is extremely rare. An 80-year-old woman without prior exposure to TXA underwent elective knee replacement.
