OBJECTIVE: Cardiovascular disease is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in organ transplant recipients, and cardiac surgery has become more common in this population. METHODS: Among 270 renal transplants performed from 1985 to 2002, a total of 204 (75%) were in diabetic patients and 66 (25%) in nondiabetic patients. Multicystic dysplastic kidney (MCDK) represents the most common cause of abdominal mass in the neonatal period. It is usually combined with contralateral genitourinary tract anomaly.
