Fatty acids in plasma phospholipids were studied in 35 severely malnourished young children with a median age of 29 mo (range: 9-43 mo), who were either seronegative for human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV) (n = 16) or suffered from asymptomatic (stage P-1; n = 12) or symptomatic (stage P-2; n = 7) HIV disease. 35 milk samples from 19 women giving birth between 28 and 41 weeks of gestation were studied. The samples were collected on the 3rd, 10th and 21st postpartum days. The phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylcholine fatty acids were analyzed. In this report the proportion of linoleic acid is shown to be significantly lower in colostrum from mothers giving birth prematurely in comparison to colostrum from mothers giving birth at term. No other differences were found in relation to post conception age.

Diet composition significantly influences the chemical quality of edible insect ingredients. This study compared Tenebrio molitor larvae reared on wheat bran (WB) and tuna by-products (TB) using proximate analysis and metabolomics.
