Extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) is a compensatory process that supplements defective hematopoiesis and is frequently observed in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Liver, spleen, and lymph nodes are the most common sites of EMH, whereas its occurrence in the intracranial space is extremely rare. We experienced a case of EMH which developed in cranial dura mater after irradiation against massive splenomegaly. As general condition of the patient did not allow us pathological examination, the diagnosis was confirmed by postmortem autopsy.

Germ-cell malignant tumours occurred in a man and his son. The father, who had a teratoma of the right testicle removed 24 years ago, is presently alive and well. The son, who had a choriocarcinoma presenting as an abdominal mass, possibly originating in the testicle, died within 7 months of the diagnosis with metastases in the lungs, liver and retroperitoneum. This report documents the third such case of germ-cell neoplasms occurring in father and son.

Primary hepatic histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is an exceptionally rare malignancy with nonspecific clinical and morphological features that often mimic other high-grade liver tumors making their diagnosis challenging. INTRODUCTION: Adenocarcinoma of the ovary is an aggressive neoplasm which often metastasizes to the lung or liver. Metastases rarely occur to the pancreas, but a tissue diagnosis is required to confirm this event. Although most tumors of the pancreas are primary pancreatic neoplasms, metastatic lesions have been reported most commonly as arising from renal cell carcinoma.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 51-year-old Caucasian woman with ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma with metastasis to the head of the pancreas that was originally misdiagnosed as a pancreatic primary tumor.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are rare neoplasms composed of neuroendocrine cells and seen in approximately 2% of malignancies in the United States. These are often underdiagnosed due to nonspecific presentations early in the disease course. Although found primarily in the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, and pancreas, these tumors can be seen anywhere in the body. The following case highlights an unusual presentation of a NET and subsequent management of hepatic hydrothorax in the setting of obstruction rather than decompensated liver cirrhosis.

Phyllodes tumors are rare fibroepithelial neoplasms of the breast; classified as benign, borderline, or malignant based on the mitotic activity, cellular atypia, and stromal overgrowth. Wide surgical excision is the treatment of choice. The most common locations for metastasis are lung, bone, and liver; small intestinal metastasis is extremely rare. Here we present the first patient with jejunal metastases and intussusception due to malignant phyllodes tumor of the breast. Adjuvant treatment of malignant phyllodes tumor needs to be investigated.

Two cases of toxic hepatitis developing in patients receiving high-dose etoposide (VP-16-213) for refractory germinal neoplasms are described. Each patient received a total cumulative dose of at least 6800 mg/m2. Liver function abnormalities, including hyperbilirubinemia, elevated transaminases, and elevated alkaline phosphatase, became clinically apparent approximately 3 weeks following the last dose of VP-16-213. These abnormalities resolved spontaneously without sequelae over 12 weeks. High-dose VP-16-213 may be associated with hepatic injury.

We describe the case of a 41-year-old woman who developed a liver neoplasm due to previous Fontan surgery for a single ventricle anomaly and pacemaker implantation. She was admitted to our hospital for moderate ascites and she was affected by hepatocellular carcinoma treated by trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE). This case describes a 78-year-old woman on rivaroxaban who presented with haemodynamic shock due to a spontaneous subcapsular liver haematoma with capsular rupture and pseudoaneurysm formation.
