We carried out a retrospective analytical study of 3525 bilaterally blind people registered in Oman to the end of 2000. We described the examination method, maintenance of the register and analysis of data. Amputation of multiple fingers of both hands is a rare and serious injury. We report a case of a 41-year-old male patient who presented to Khoula Hospital, Muscat, Oman, in 2015 with the amputation of nine fingers due to a workplace injury. With two teams working in tandem, all the amputated fingers were re-attached. A total of seven fingers survived and the patient regained reasonable functionality of his hands. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first case of several finger amputations in Oman.

Pulmonary myiasis is an unusual form of myiasis in humans and has been recently identified as a cause of eosinophilic pneumonia. This article presents the incidence of female breast cancer in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and reviews the data in relation to established reproductive factors. Overall 4480 female breast cancer cases were diagnosed during 1998-2002 among GCC country nationals. Breast cancer was the most common malignancy in all GCC countries, ranging from 16.1% of female cancers in Oman to 35.4% in Bahrain. A retrospective study was undertaken of 33 children with visceral leishmaniasis admitted to Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), Oman between 1993 and 1999.
