Organometallic Cd(II) compounds have recently attracted attention for their anticancer activity. The interaction of the dinuclear complex of Cd(II) with the condensation product of 2-acetylpyridine and malonic acid dihydrazide, N',N'(2) -bis[(1E)-1-(2-pyridyl)ethylidene]propanedihydrazide (Cd(II)H(2) L), with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was monitored by blue shift in UV-vis spectra of the complex. The toluene solution structure of an N-lithio(triphenyl)phosphazene (Ph(3)PNLi) mixed aggregate with lithium bromide (LiBr), 5, has been elucidated for the first time based on multinuclear magnetic resonance measurements ((1)H, (6)Li, (7)Li, (13)C and (31)P). Two triosmium carbonyl clusters, viz., Os3(μ-H)(μ-SC6H4-p-NO2)(CO)10 (1) and Os3(μ-H)(kO,μ-O'-2-flavone)(CO)9 (2), effectively inhibited α-synuclein aggregation, a key signature of Parkinson's disease (PD), in both wild-type and A53T-mutant α-synuclein models. Cluster 2 showed superior efficacy and a significantly better safety profile, and could also disassemble preformed aggregates.

N,N-Dimethylaziridine-2-carboxamides react with organolithium reagents yielding 2-aziridinylketones. The reaction with one equivalent of organolithium compound is selective to amide carbonyl at a low (-78 °C) temperature. These ketones, in reaction with organolithium reagents, give symmetrical and unsymmetrical aziridinyl carbinols. The usage of excess phenyllithium may serve as a special N-Boc-protecting group cleavage method for acid-sensitive substrates.
