We report 19 patients who developed extensive patchy or linear erythema on both sides of the buttocks, the back and the posterior areas of the thighs within a few days following operations or cardioangiography. Socially deprived children of school age, who live on the territory of moderate iodine deficiency and under conditions of preventive treatment with "Iodide-100" drug have been examined. The following parameters have been examined: the size of thyroid gland, its functional activity and the level of children's mental development. The correlation link between the sizes of thyroid gland and the level of mental development, psychic functions of examined children has been established. Preventive treatment with "Iodide-100" significantly improved the investigated parameters.

A 62-year-old woman had chronic cavitary pulmonary sporotrichosis refractory to medical management over an 8-year period. She was treated with oral itraconazole and had an apparent microbiologic and clinical response; however, the patient succumbed to progressive pulmonary hypertension. The early use of oral itraconazole for treatment of pulmonary sporotrichosis is advocated.
