BACKGROUND: Trichoepithelioma (TE) is a benign adnexal neoplasm derived from basal cells in the hair follicle. Solitary TE occurs sporadically as opposed to the multiple familial variant that presents as an autosomal dominant genodermatosis. OBJECTIVES: Fabry disease is a rare X-linked metabolic disorder characterized by a deficiency in the enzyme alpha-galactosidase A. Both males and females can be affected. The main presenting symptom is pain in the extremities, whereas at a more advanced stage, the manifestations include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac dysrhythmia, proteinuria, chronic kidney dysfunction, stroke, and hearing loss. INTRODUCTION: Cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide with the burden in sub-Saharan Africa projected to double by year 2030 from 715,000 new cases and 542,000 deaths in 2008. BACKGROUND: Plant life is extremely diverse, with a great deal of geographic and seasonal variation. Consequently, the range of reported adverse reactions is large, and there are important differences worldwide in the incidence and prevalence of these reactions. Systemic ingestion of some plants containing furocoumarins can cause erythema, edema, vesicle and bulla formation and later hyperpigmentation, after exposure to sunlight. They may at times exhibit clinical manifestations that mimic angioedema, and rarely progress to necrosis. This condition is named phyto-phototoxic reaction.

BACKGROUND: Poorly differentiated carcinoma is a rare epithelial tumor that falls between well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma in terms of morphologic appearance and biologic behavior. An insular variant was characterized in 1983. Further study of this neoplasm is warranted owing to its high aggressiveness, propensity to local recurrence and distant metastases, and high associated mortality.
