Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is an extramedullary tumour consisting of myeloblasts or immature myeloid cells located in an extramedullary site. It may occur at presentation of AML, at relapse, or prior to the onset of frank leukemia. We report a rare case of MS developing in prexisting Hydroxyurea-induced leg Ulcer in a 70-year-old woman.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a tumor consisting of myeloid blasts that occurs at an anatomical site other than the bone marrow. We report the case of a 38-year-old man with duodenal MS who underwent an allogeneic bone marrow transplant in a non-complete remission (CR) state. After the transplant, residual disease was suspected on a fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET)/CT scan, and additional radiotherapy resulted in CR, which has been maintained for 21 months. FDG-PET/CT scanning is useful for evaluating residual myeloid sarcoma during the peritransplant period.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary myeloid tumour. It has been reported in various sites, including lymph node, bone, skin, soft tissue, various organs and the CNS. It may precede or occur concurrently with acute myeloid leukemia. Urinary bladder involvement is extremely uncommon. We report a 70-year-old female who had MS of the urinary bladder, presented with frank and persistent hematuria associated with lower abdominal pain. She subsequently had tumour seeding in the abdominal skin via percutaneous suprapubic catheter. Tumours from both the urinary bladder and skin showed immatur

AIMS: To describe the clinicopathological and immunophenotypic features of 26 cases of extra-medullary myeloid tumour (EMMT)/granulocytic sarcoma, which remains poorly recognized and is frequently confused with malignant lymphoma, and to discuss the main diagnostic problems experienced by the referring pathologist.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Haematoxylin and eosin (H & E) sections of 26 cases of EMMT were re-examined. Immunostains for myeloperoxidase, lysozyme, neutrophil elastase, LCA, CD79a, CD20, CD43, CD45RO, CD3, CD30, CD15, CD68, MAC387, VS38C, MIC2, and the Leder stain for naphthol-ASD-chlor

The presence of KMT2A/AFF1 rearrangement in B-lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) is an independent poor prognostic factor and has been associated with higher rate of treatment failure and higher risk of linage switch under therapy. Blinatumomab has shown promising therapeutic results in refractory or relapsed B-ALL; however, it has potential risk of inducing lineage switch, especially in KMT2A/AFF1 rearranged B-ALL into acute myeloid leukemia and/or myeloid sarcoma. We report a 40-year-old female with KMT2A/AFF1-rearranged B-ALL that was refractory to conventional chemotherapy. Following administr

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary tumor of myeloid blasts that may occur before, concurrently with, or after acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (1-4). We report a 53-year-old man with progressive left lower-limb pain and swelling, initially admitted to the vascular surgery service, with imaging revealing left external iliac vein and proximal common femoral vein occlusive thrombosis, a peri-iliac mass encasing the iliac vessels, and ipsilateral hydronephrosis. Biopsy of the left inguinal lesion showed MPO positivity, CD34 positivity, partial TdT positivity, and a Ki-67 index of about 80%,

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary manifestation of myeloid neoplasms and usually has poorer outcomes than acute myeloid leukemia without extramedullary disease. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the most effective consolidation, but evidence on allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (allo-PBSCT), especially from haploidentical donors, is limited.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 20 consecutive patients with biopsy-confirmed MS who underwent allo-PBSCT at our center (2012-2025). All grafts were peripheral blood. Donors were haploid

Bronchial myeloid sarcoma (BMS) is an extramedullary rare extramedullary manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), with only eight cases previously reported worldwide. In this report, we present the ninth documented case of BMS occurring in a 47-years-old man with acute monoblastic leukemia (AML-M5) during venetoclax therapy. The patient initially presented with cough and fever, leading to a misdiagnosis of bronchopneumonia. However, following a biopsy of the endobronchial lesion obtained via bronchoscopy and subsequent immunohistochemical analysis, a diagnosis of BMS was made. Following

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a very rare hematologic disorder. This study analyzes the early treatment options for patients with different types of MS and explores the prognostic factors of MS.
METHODS: Patients aged 15 years and older with MS in the SEER database (diagnosed from 2000 to 2018) were selected, excluding those with an unknown first course of treatment, an unknown location of disease, and less than 1 month of follow-up. Statistical methods used a chi-square test to compare clinical characteristics; Kaplan-Meier analysis to compare survival differences; and Cox proportional

Myeloid sarcoma is a neoplastic mass formed by the infiltration of primitive or immature myeloid cells into organs and tissues outside the bone marrow. It may occur before, at the same time, or manifest as the recurrence of acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and chronic myeloproliferative syndromes. It may involve any organ or tissue, including skin, soft tissue, lymph nodes, and gastrointestinal tract and bone. Isolated humerus involvement is extremely rare. Herein, we present the FDG PET/CT findings of a rare case of isolate myeloid sarcoma in the right humerus, which showed

CASE REPORT: We report the first case of orbital myeloid sarcoma that was successfully treated with a standard venetoclax dose of 25%. A 38-year-old man with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) post-haplo-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) presented with a nine-month history of progressive right proptosis and a visual acuity deficit. The patient was treated with venetoclax (100 mg orally on days 1-28), cytarabine (40 mg subcutaneously, days 1-10), and itraconazole (100 mg twice daily orally on days 1-28).
MANAGEMENT AND OUTCOME: The present case report shows that using cytochrome P450 (C

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) represents a rare disease with an adverse clinical outcome for patients not candidate to acute myeloid leukemia (AML)-like chemotherapies. Here we present the case of an elderly patient affected by a bilateral breast localization of MS treated with the hypomethylating agent decitabine associated to radiotherapy. The association of the two treatment modalities has allowed an optimal and long-lasting disease control.

Defined as a rare extramedullary tumor, myeloid sarcoma (MS) is in the attention of specialists, although the information in the literature is represented especially through case reports. MS can precede acute myeloid leukemia (AML), appear simultaneous and can be the only manifestation of leukemia relapse after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). We present the case of a 30-year-old female diagnosed with acute myelomonocytic leukemia (AML M4), with complete remission (CR) after chemotherapy, followed by allo-SCT for consolidation. After five months, the patient presented right bre

Granulocytic sarcoma (extramedullary myelosarcoma, chloroma) is a rare extramedullary myeloid tumor which can occur at any anatomical site as isolated finding or associated with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). In this case, we describe a 71-year-old man who presented with incomplete paresis of the left arm, periorbital swelling, a maculopapular exanthema and organ involvement including testis and stomach. The tumors responded to combination chemotherapy and the patient fully recovered. However, after five months the patient relapsed and died quickly. This ca
