A technique of arthroscopic excision of a torn meniscus has evolved during two years' experience of therapeutic arthroscopy of the knee joint. Simulator sickness is a syndrome similar to motion sickness, often experienced during simulator or another virtual reality (VR) exposure. Many theories have been developed or adapted from the motion sickness studies, in order to explain the existence of the syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a somewhat neglected medical and economic problem, and surgery is one of the therapeutic options. We analyze the outcomes of surgical treatment in 114 consecutive patients (154 hands). Before the surgery, physical therapy was implemented (96% cases) and the patients were frequently on a sick leave (42% cases). Immediately before the surgery, the patients suffered intensive pain (median 7 on a 0-10 scale), and had a reduced hand function (median 2 on a 0-10 scale). A single-blind, randomized, controlled trial was done to compare the results of carpal tunnel release using classic incision, short incision, or endoscopic technique. A survey was conducted among teachers to explore 1) risk factors of voice disorders, 2) the number and nature of problems experienced, 3) the need for medical help, and 4) how occupational health care reacts to this need. Additionally, the knowledgeability of occupational health care physicians and the way treatment of voice disorders is currently organized was explored.
