Howard, Dexter H. (University of California, Los Angeles) and G. F. Orr. Comparison of strains of Sporotrichum schenckii isolated from nature. J. Bacteriol. 85:816-821. 1963.-Several strains of fungi, tentatively considered to be members of the genus Sporotrichum, have been isolated from soil and from other sources in nature. The striking morphological similarity of these isolates to strains of S. schenckii led to a comparative study of their biological properties. Nine strains of Sporotrichum from nature were compared with twelve strains of S. schenckii isolated from cases of clinical sporotr

Lateral ankle sprains (LAS) are the most common lower-limb sports injuries and demonstrate high recurrence rates. Although several return-to-sport (RTS) frameworks exist, empirical, sport-specific criteria remain limited. Clinicians rely on heterogeneous or incomplete assessment strategies. This paper aims to answer how current RTS guidelines for LAS compare to RTS protocols in elite sports teams; and how RTS decision-making after LAS can be optimised by connecting conceptual frameworks and real-life protocols. Elite teams' protocols (n = 6) demonstrated large variability in RTS-phases, progre

Badminton is a fast-paced sport that requires a high level of skill. Despite its non-contact nature, badminton can still result in injuries. This review aimed to identify the characteristics of musculoskeletal injuries in elite badminton players. A systematic search was conducted through the electronic bibliographic databases between 2013 and 2025. The study followed the PRISMA guidelines, registered in PROSPERO, and article quality assessment was conducted using the Newcastle Ottawa Scale. A total of 11 eligible articles were included. Over 45% of elite badminton players have been injured in

Ankle sprains are prevalent musculoskeletal injuries commonly encountered in the general population, particularly among athletes. While conventional treatments are widely practiced, regenerative therapies have emerged as potential adjunctive options. This narrative review aims to assess the role of regenerative therapy in the management of acute ankle sprains and evaluate its efficacy through an analysis of the literature. We focused on studies available in PubMed, restricting our search to English-language articles published between January 2005 and December 2024. Our review identified five s

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to compare two-point discrimination in feet with ankle sprains and feet without ankle problems, and to determine whether there was a change in the two-point discrimination values in ankle sprains.
METHODS: A total of 108 people were included in the study. These subjects were aged between 18 and 40 years and visited the Medical Faculty of Yozgat Bozok University for various reasons in July and September of 2022. These people were divided into two groups: subjects with an ankle sprain and subjects with no ankle problems. Two-point discrimination values measured in m

BACKGROUND: Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) is widely used in the treatment of patients with musculoskeletal and sports disorders with a lack of significance in patients with sprain ankle.
PURPOSE: This review investigated the effect of PBMT on pain, oedema, and function in patients with an ankle sprain.
METHODS: A systematic search of the databases (MEDLINE, PubMed, EBSCO, Web of Science, Wiley Online Library, Science Direct, Physiotherapy Evidence (PEDro), and the Cochrane Databases) was performed from inception to the end of 2023 to identify any clinical study investigating the effect o

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of preventive interventions for lateral ankle sprain in the general population.
DATA SOURCES: A search of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane CENTRAL, Medline, CINAHL, and ClinicalTrials.gov was conducted up to August 2022.
REVIEW METHODS: Randomized controlled trials and prospective cohort studies that evaluated any interventions for preventing lateral ankle sprain were included. Two reviewers independently conducted the search, screening, and data extraction. The methodological quality of each study was assessed using the revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for random

The management protocol for each case of ankle sprain should be individualized and optimized in order to reduce the likelihood of development of chronic instability. Initial treatment aims to address pain, swelling, and inflammation and facilitates regaining pain-free joint motion. Short-term joint immobilization is indicated in severe cases. Subsequently, muscle strengthening, balance training, and targeted activities to develop proprioception are added. Gradually, sports-related activities are added with the ultimate goal of bringing the individual back to preinjury level of activity. This p
