Delivering public health advice to sign language users: a qualitative study with key stakeholders.

OBJECTIVES: There are more than 10 million deaf or hard of hearing people in the UK. While the deaf and hard of hearing population is heterogeneous, many of those with profound hearing loss are part of deaf communities (UK estimate around 120 000) which are defined minority communities. Many members of deaf communities are sign language users. Studies have shown that health behaviour and knowledge and health-related attitudes and beliefs are suboptimal among deaf and hard of hearing individuals, with reasons not well understood. This qualitative study aimed to explore the effectiveness of deli

Development of a virtual multidisciplinary meeting framework for less common cancers.

Less common cancers are underserved with expertise compared to other cancers. This is accentuated in regional areas where patients may need to travel for expert opinion. Development of a virtual multidisciplinary meeting (MDM) can help overcome this disadvantage but can be a challenge to establish. We describe the development of a framework for future less common cancer MDMs.

Enhancing evidence-informed policymaking in medicine and healthcare: stakeholder involvement in the Commons Project for rare diseases in Japan.

BACKGROUND: Although stakeholder involvement in policymaking is attracting attention in the fields of medicine and healthcare, a practical methodology has not yet been established. Rare-disease policy, specifically research priority setting for the allocation of limited research resources, is an area where evidence generation through stakeholder involvement is expected to be effective. We generated evidence for rare-disease policymaking through stakeholder involvement and explored effective collaboration among stakeholders. METHODS: We constructed a space called 'Evidence-generating Commons',

Participants (n = 137) from 28 European countries-trainees (n = 58), trainers (n = 50), and experts by lived experience (n = 27)-rated the importance of potential topics (areas of learning) and activities (ways of sharing) for an international training network. The study followed a Delphi methodology: in round 1, participants assessed t

Participants included players from schools and clubs, coaches, parent

Multiple Sclerosis and COVID-19: Health and healthcare access, health information and consumer co-created strategies for future access at times of crisis.

BACKGROUND: Persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) need regular access to medical services for optimal health outcomes. During the COVID-19 crisis, evidence indicated some detrimental health changes in persons with MS. Maintaining access to healthcare providers and healthcare information may minimise detrimental health changes during times of crisis. In Australia, there is limited evidence of consultation with people who have chronic health conditions or disabilities regarding government decisions to restrict healthcare access and in the provision of health guidance during the COVID-19 crisis.
