Electrovesicograms (EVG) were studied in 20 women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and 12 healthy female volunteers with a mean age of 44.8 and 48.2 years, respectively. Recordings were performed by means of three electrodes applied to the skin in the hypogastric area and one reference electrode to the lower limb. We report on 9 patients where on a colon conduit has been constructed. Seven of them suffered from a bladder etrophy, one had a sacral teratoma and the remaining one a vesical rhabdomyoma. The latter two had undergone total cystectomy. This technique involves creation of a conduit with isolation of 10-15 cm of a loop of sigmoid colon. A vesicocervical fistula is reported. This extremely rare and late sequela of caesarean section, secondary to a lesion in the bladder and unrecognized intraoperatively, was followed with a distressing, long-lasting urinary incontinence unreactive to conservative treatment. Not until 7 years after the primary operation was this lesion diagnosed and treated successfully by vaginal approach. Etiological factors, clinical features and treatment possibilities are discussed.

Four significant complications of Teflon injections for stress urinary incontinence are reported in 22 women and eight men. Three of the complications included periurethral abscess, urethral diverticulum, and periurethral Teflon granuloma with urethral wall prolapse occurred in women. In order to investigate how Norwegian gynecologists manage female urinary incontinence in their daily practice, a questionnaire about six typical case histories was sent to the members of the Norwegian Gynaecological Association. The authors examined the incidence of stress incontinence of urine during pregnancy and the early post-partum period. Pregnancy is with increasing frequency mentioned in the literature as a key period for development of this disorder. A detailed questionnaire was completed by all patients who were delivered of babies at the obstetric clinic after January 1, 1987.
