A 60-year-old patient had a 3-year history of recurrent memory disturbances. The video electroencephalographic (EEG) recording of one attack showed that the amnesic state, which clinically resembled transient global amnesia, was characterized by a normal EEG tracing followed by electroclinical complex partial seizures. We suggest that "epileptic" transient global amnesia is postictal in nature.

Persistent daytime incontinence is a fairly uncommon but important problem. Videourodynamic studies were carried out in 215 children presenting with this problem in whom there were no neurological signs and who had not responded to simple measures. Over 90% of symptomatic children were shown to have an abnormality, of which over half had detrusor instability and a fifth had the wide bladder neck anomaly. We consider that it is important that these children are fully assessed as many can be helped.

Bidimensional contrast echocardiological examinations were carried out in 120 patients with the use of dynamically focussed multiscan. Ultrasonic contrast was produced by a push injection of 10 ml of isotonic saline or of 5% glucose in water injected into an antecubital vein through an 18 gauge needle. OBJECTIVE: Eating behavior during meals in anorexia nervosa (AN) has long been noted to be abnormal, but little research has been done carefully characterizing these behaviors. These eating behaviors have been considered pathological, but are not well understood. The current study sought to quantify ingestive and non-ingestive behaviors during a laboratory lunch meal, compare them to the behaviors of healthy controls (HC), and examine their relationships with caloric intake and anxiety during the meal.
METHOD: A standardized lunch meal was video-recorded for 26 individuals with AN and 10 HC.

METHODS: Fifty-nine eyes of 36 patients with blepharoptosis without lacrimal duct obstruction or other eyelid diseases were examined.
