We aimed to evaluate the value of immunoadsorption (IA) treatment after the failure of intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) therapy for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). Sixty-one NMOSD attacks unresponsive to IVMP were included: 22 patients received rescue IA (IVMP+IA), 24 underwent rescue plasma exchange (PE) (IVMP+PE), and 21 received no further rescue therapy (IVMP alone). School-age children bear the highest burden of fascioliasis in endemic countries. Few studies have addressed Fasciola in preschool children. We performed a secondary data analysis using two Fasciola databases from Cusco, Peru, comparing preschoolers with elementary school children. We included 2,630 children, 50% were female, the median age was 8.4 years (interquartile range [IQR] 6.1-10.5), and 15% (396/2,630) were < 5 years of age. Children < 5 years were less likely to be infected with Fasciola hepatica (P = 0.008) and Hymenolepis nana (P < 0.001) and more likely to have anemia (P < 0.001)

Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is a complex immunological disorder complicating asthma. Uncommonly, ABPA presents without underlying asthma. Herein, we describe the outcomes of ABPA with and without asthma. Of the 530 subjects (median follow-up, 39 months), 37 (7%) were ABPA sans asthma. Bronchiectasis was more frequent (97.3% vs. 83.2%, P = .02), and the lung function was significantly better in ABPA sans asthma.
