Feasibility of an interdisciplinary primary care-based intervention to improve care transitions for hospitalized patients with substance use disorders: The IntACT pilot randomized controlled trial protocol.

BACKGROUND: Hospitalizations are common among individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and represent crucial opportunities to engage patients in treatment. Quality efforts to increase SUD treatment access in hospital settings must be paired with interventions that support linkage to follow-up SUD and medical care. However, the best way to support patients with SUD during transitions of care after hospitalization is unknown. METHODS: The IntACT pilot study is a single-site randomized controlled trial that aims to assess the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of a primary care-base

Traditional practices in the postpartum period among Syrian refugee and Turkish women: A comparative study.

In this study, we examined the use of traditional postpartum practices among Turkish and Syrian refugee women within the framework of Transcultural Nursing Theory. Data were collected from 260 women through face-to-face questionnaires on sociodemographic characteristics, reproductive history, and traditional practices. Our results showed cultural differences: Turkish women often sought professional care, obtained postpartum information from nurses or midwives, and practiced rituals such as the forty-day bath, yellow cloth covering, and religious ceremonies. Syrian women reported more pregnanci

Spatial Ethics of an Imposed Euthanasia Clinic Within a Catholic Hospital Space.

Catholic healthcare institutions worldwide are under increasing pressure to participate in euthanasia-often through forced implementation rather than chosen partnership, creating ethical challenges in balancing institutional conscience and theological integrity with their obligations to serve the broader public. This paper develops an interdisciplinary spatial ethics framework of healthcare space grounded in epistemology, environmental psychology, and Catholic moral theology; it examines three spatial dimensions-operational, missional, and moral-and Catholic social teaching principles of subsi

A study on comprehensive bibliometric analysis of natural medicines for Alzheimer's disease (1999-2025).

BACKGROUND: Natural medicines have low toxicity, multi-target effects and long-term clinical use. They inhibit amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition, regulate tau phosphorylation, and exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, matching Alzheimer's disease (AD) complex pathogenesis. Supported by the World Health Organization, they are promising alternatives to current symptomatic AD drugs that cannot stop disease progression. OBJECTIVE: AD poses a growing global neurodegenerative burden, but systematic bibliometric analysis of natural medicines against AD remains lacking. This study aimed to reve

Implementation of an ultrasound-guided nerve block program in an academic emergency department.

INTRODUCTION: Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (UGNBs) offer effective, opioid-sparing analgesia and have been increasingly recognized as a valuable component of multimodal pain management in the Emergency Department (ED). Despite endorsement by major professional societies, adoption of UGNBs among emergency physicians has been slow due to educational, logistical, and interdepartmental barriers. This study describes the implementation of a comprehensive UGNB program at an academic ED using the Practical, Robust Implementation and Sustainability Model (PRISM). METHODS: A PRISM-guided implementat

[Impact of the PEPP reimbursement system and other developments on inpatient care of general psychiatry patients 2005 to 2022: a retrospective analysis].

INTRODUCTION: The traditional division of clinical psychiatry in Germany comprises general psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and addiction medicine. It is important to know how factors such as age, gender, length of stay, comorbidities and concomitant medication have developed in these areas in order to understand future care needs. The billing system (abbreviated as "PEPP") unique to Germany was introduced in 2018 and brought structural changes to psychiatric care. This study focuses on a retrospective, longitudinal observation in general psychiatry, describes developments, and examines the im
