Prevalence of BRCA1/2 variants in an Ovarian Cancer Cohort: outcomes from a Nationwide Testing Program.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) have revolutionized the management of BRCA1- and BRCA2-associated ovarian cancer (OC). In 2020, Ireland implemented a nationwide, oncology-led pathway for mainstreamed BRCA1/2 testing in patients with OC. This study evaluated the pathway and characterised the BRCA1/2 landscape in an Irish cohort of patients with OC. Samples collected between January 2020 and December 2023 were tested in two national molecular diagnostic laboratories. Single-molecule molecular inversion probe sequencing was used to detect single nucleotide variants, while multiplex

Efficacy and safety of first-line immunotherapy-related induction and maintenance therapy for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) is highly aggressive with dismal prognosis, and platinum monochemotherapy offers modest long-term survival. Multiple first-line regimens integrating immunotherapy, anti-angiogenic agents and chemotherapy have been approved, yet direct head-to-head comparisons are scarce, and the optimal induction plus maintenance strategy remains undefined. In this study, a Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) was performed to hierarchically assess the efficacy and safety of available first-line regimens and identify balanced treatment strategies for

Mechanisms underlying university students' perceived AI threat: the mediating roles of perceived controllability and perceived effort-reward imbalance.

INTRODUCTION: As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into educational assessment and employment practices, university students are becoming more concerned about their future career opportunities, the value of their skills, and employment competition. However, the mechanisms underlying perceived AI threat remain insufficiently understood among undergraduate and postgraduate students in the humanities and social sciences in China. This study develops an integrated model in which perceived controllability and perceived effort-reward imbalance serve as parallel mediators a

Nano/microencapsulation of feed additives for ruminal microbiome modulation and enteric methane mitigation in ruminants: a critical review.

The latest advances in nutrition, microbiology, and omics sciences are redefining strategies to improve health indices and productivity in livestock. A novel strategy focuses on the deliberate modulation of rumen and intestinal microbiome ecosystems, which, besides being complex, are crucial for animal performance. The use of feed additives, such as bioactive compounds derived from plants and probiotics, has a long tradition supported by their known antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, among others. However, their practical efficacy is often compromised by their high s

Surgical Site Infections in Mozambique: A Literature Review of Incidence, Antimicrobial Resistance, Risk Factors, and Surveillance Practices.

Background: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are among the most common healthcare-associated infections worldwide and impose a disproportionate burden in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In Mozambique, persistent health system constraints-including limited infection prevention and control (IPC) capacity, weak surveillance infrastructure, and rising antimicrobial resistance (AMR)-likely amplify this burden. This review synthesizes available evidence on SSI incidence, etiology, antimicrobial resistance patterns, risk factors, and surveillance practices in Mozambican healthcare settings.

Optimisation of radiation dose and image quality in paediatric chest and abdominal CT examinations: A systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Computed tomography (CT) is indispensable for the rapid evaluation of paediatric chest and abdominal pathology, yet it delivers relatively high ionizing radiation doses compared with other imaging modalities. Wide inter-institutional variability in dose metrics underscores the need for systematic optimisation that balances radiation safety with diagnostic image quality. The purpose of the study is to systematically evaluate how low-dose acquisition strategies and advancements in reconstruction techniques affect radiation exposure and image quality in paediatric CT Chest and Abdom
