Research on the manifestations and key factors of digital competence of China's preschool teachers.

Grounded in an integrated framework of the Iceberg Theory, TPACK, and DigCompEdu, this study developed a five-dimensional model and employed mixed methods to investigate the current status and key determinants of digital competence among Chinese preschool teachers. A quantitative survey was administered to 599 practitioners, followed by semi-structured interviews with 15 teachers. The results demonstrated that: (1) Overall digital literacy was at a moderate-to-high level. Among the five dimensions, "Digital Management Competence" scored the highest (M = 4.323), whereas "Digital Leadership" sco

Behavioral Disinhibition Model of Addiction: A Review and New Findings from the Minnesota Twin Family Study.

We provide an historical perspective on the development, empirical support, and evolution of the behavioral disinhibition model of addiction that has been a central aim of the Minnesota Twin Family Study (MTFS). Conceived by David Lykken, the MTFS initiated a 35-year collaboration between Matt McGue and Bill Iacono, who together built the Minnesota Center for Twin and Family Research (MCTFR). The behavioral disinhibition model posited that a heritable psychobiological liability expressed as the failure to conform to normative behavior and deficits in self-regulation underlies the co-occurrence

Autism and Schizotypal Traits in Relation to Thought-Action Fusion in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

BACKGROUND: Thought-Action Fusion (TAF) is one of the cognitive variables and thought misinterpretations that have been extensively studied in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, further research is needed on the specific factors contributing to the development of TAF in patients with OCD. Since autistic traits and TAF are related to cognitive processes, we hypothesized in this study that autistic traits as well as schizotypal traits and obsessive-compulsive symptoms may be associated with TAF severity in OCD patients. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, eighty-three patients (a

Emotion regulation and impulsivity evolution during transdiagnostic DBT implementation in addictology - a 3-year naturalistic study.

INTRODUCTION: Addictive and eating disorders are the two deadliest psychiatric disorders. Emotional dysregulation and impulsivity are central processes in both disorders. Maladaptive emotion regulation strategies play a key role in the development and maintenance of these disorders. The standard treatment for emotion regulation is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); its implementation is often a challenge, but transdiagnostic groups can facilitate it. Due to the lack of data available on these groups in addictology, our study aimed to determine whether emotional dysregulation and impulsivity

The Psychiatric Comorbidities in Adolescents With Atopic Dermatitis: A Real-World Study of Propensity-Matched Cohorts.

BACKGROUND: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that significantly impairs quality of life, particularly in adolescents, a period marked by intense physical and psychosocial development. The burden of AD extends beyond dermatological symptoms, with growing evidence linking the condition to mental health disorders. As real-world data focused specifically on adolescent populations is scarce, this study aimed to evaluate the risk of psychiatric comorbidities among AD adolescents using a large electronic health records database. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study util

Neuroticism increased risk of gastroesophageal reflux disease: Evidence from bidirectional Mendelian randomization.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common gastrointestinal disorder that severely reduces quality of life. Emerging data suggest that neuroticism, a personality trait associated with increased stress reactivity and sensitivity to physiological sensations, may contribute to GERD susceptibility. However, the causality remains unknown. A bidirectional Mendelian Randomization (MR) study was conducted to evaluate the causal link between neuroticism and GERD. Genetic data for neuroticism were sourced from the UK Biobank's genome-wide association study (GWAS) (n = 3,80,506), while GERD-assoc

Research Review: What we have learned about early detection and intervention of borderline personality disorder.

BACKGROUND: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) typically emerges during adolescence and early adulthood and has severe personal, social and economic consequences. Despite significant research efforts on early intervention over the past two decades, delays in diagnosis and treatment are still common, and exclusion of individuals with BPD from mental health services is prevalent. METHODS: In order to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice, this review qualitatively synthesises empirical evidence on early intervention for BPD, addressing four key questions: (1) Should BPD be di

Frontotemporal dementia: a systematic review of artificial intelligence approaches in differential diagnosis.

INTRODUCTION: Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive degeneration of the frontal and temporal lobes, leading to significant changes in personality, behavior, and language abilities. Early and accurate differential diagnosis between FTD, its subtypes, and other dementias, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), is crucial for appropriate treatment planning and patient care. Machine learning (ML) techniques have shown promise in enhancing diagnostic accuracy by identifying complex patterns in clinical and neuroimaging data that are not easily discern

[The impact of Leary's interpersonal relationships and attachment styles in the background of suicide attempts in borderline personality disorder].

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Nowadays ever more studies are devoted to the causes and background of suicide attempts by psychiatric patients. The research results so far show that the motivations behind borderline suicidality are also closely related to attachment patterns. In addition, many investigations are also directed at the disturbance of interpersonal relationships in this context. Recently, the examination of the disturbance of interpersonal relations as a risk factor has received significant emphasis. The present research aims to explore the mediating effect of Leary's interpersonal relat

Trait Anxiety Modulates Event-Related Potential Responses to Emotional Faces.

Trait anxiety is a stable personality trait associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms that is generally assessed using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). However, as a self-report tool, the STAI has limitations, including social desirability bias. To address these limitations and investigate the neural signature of trait anxiety, this study examined event-related potentials (ERPs) during an emotional Stroop task. Eleven healthy adults completed the STAI and responded to a colored facial stimulus showing anger, disgust, or neutrality while undergoing 19-channel electroencephalograp

Adverse childhood experiences and their differential relationships with transdiagnostic mental health outcomes in young adults.

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are associated with poor mental health outcomes, which are increasingly conceptualized from a transdiagnostic perspective. We examined the impact of ACEs on transdiagnostic mental health outcomes in young adulthood and explored potential effect modification. We included participants from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children with prospectively measured data on ACEs from infancy till age 16 as well as mental health outcomes at ages 18 and 24. Exposures included emotional neglect, bullying, and physical, sexual or emotional abuse. The outcome wa

Adenosine regulates depressive behavior in mice with chronic social defeat stress through gut microbiota.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is recognized as the most prevalent affective disorder worldwide. Metagenomic studies increasingly support a critical role for dysbiosis of gut microbiota in the development of depression. Previous studies have demonstrated that adenosine alleviates gut dysbiosis, suggesting that elevating adenosine levels could be a novel intervention for MDD; however, the mechanisms underlying this effect remain unclear. This study utilized 16S rRNA gene sequencing, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPL

Activation of Internal Correctness Monitoring Circuitry in Youths With Psychosis Spectrum Symptoms.

BACKGROUND: Self-directed performance monitoring is a critical contributor to cognitive performance and general functioning and is impacted by psychiatric symptoms and personality traits, but has been understudied in psychosis-risk states. We have shown that ventral striatum (VS) responds to correctness during cognitive tasks where no explicit feedback is required, and this intrinsic reinforcement response is reduced in schizophrenia. METHODS: Here, we examined this phenomenon in youths (n = 796, age range 11-22 years) from the Philadelphia Neurodevelopmental Cohort (PNC) performing a working
