Cervical vagus nerve schwannoma is rare and its surgical procedure is controversial. The tumor is in general benign and slowly growing without causing symptoms, and therefore it should be advised to remove the tumor while preserving neural function. AIMS/PURPOSE: To report the preoperative use of anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) for the determination of pre-existing posterior capsule defect in patients with posterior polar cataract.
METHODS: Three patients presented with posterior polar cataract and were evaluated preoperatively using AS-OCT, revealing in one patient intact posterior capsule and in the other two a pre-existing posterior capsule defect not detectable by slit-lamp evaluation. Over a 3-year period, nine hemiarthroplasties were revised to total hip arthroplasty. The hemiarthroplasties were all performed for an original diagnosis of subcapital fracture, and the revisions were for a variety of indications including instability, loosening and acetabular erosion. Four of the revised prostheses subsequently dislocated, and one has recurrent subluxation. This dislocation rate of 50% is higher than previously reported. Factors contributing to this are discussed. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effectiveness and technique of secondary foldable intraocular lens implantation.
METHODS: The silicone intraocular lens was implanted secondarily in 25 aphakic eyes with intact posterior capsule and zonules or capsule rupture at central zone through a 3.5 mm sutureless scleral tunnel incision.

Diphenhydramine is a drug readily available over the counter in the form of capsules, tablets, and syrup used for allergy relief. A topical form is sold as a cream without a prescription to alleviate itching. Diphenhydramine is a drug commonly found in postmortem toxicology reports. In rare instances, death is attributed to ingestion of lethal concentrations of the drug. Herein is a report of a toddler who died of lethal concentrations of diphenhydramine from topical application.

Allergic reaction to ++anti-cataract eye drops was confirmed in 11.1-34.8 percent of patients with these drops intolerance. Administration of phacolin in capsules to such patients helped eliminate the local allergic reactions. Phacolin had a reparative therapeutic effect in patients with metabolic involvement of the cornea (postherpetic, dystrophic, and other ones). None of the seventy-two patients treated with phacolin, twenty of them were treated with the drug for 2 to 5 years, complained of the drug intolerance.
