Interleukin-1β (C-511T) Genetic Variant and Major Depressive Disorder: A Systematic Review.

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) has a multifactorial etiology and pathogenesis that significantly impacts an individual's quality of life. One of the possible correlations for its onset is the activation of inflammatory responses resulting in neurodegeneration and, consequently, the emergence of depressive symptoms. Interleukin-1β is a regulatory cytokine of the immune and nervous systems that acts on several processes, including mood regulation. This systematic review analyzed the IL1B (C-511T) (rs16944) variant's CC and CT genotype frequencies and their associations with MDD in different pop

Small Round Cell Tumors of Soft Tissue and Skeleton in Children and Youth: A Narrative and TruSight-Based Illustrative Review of Diagnostic Cases.

Small round cell tumors (SRCT) affecting soft tissue and bone are a distinct category of malignancies. These lesions frequently exhibit similar clinical and radiologic features, may harbor overlapping histologic and immunophenotypic features, and generally have distinct prognostic outcomes. Therefore, in some instances, the diagnosis and accurate subclassification require molecular confirmation. We aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the morphologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features of SRCTs of soft tissue and bone in pediatric and young adult patients, with an emphasis on

FLT3-mutated AML: immune evasion through exosome-mediated mechanisms and innovative combination therapies targeting immune escape.

INTRODUCTION: Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a heterogeneous hematological malignancy characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of abnormal myeloid cells. Besides several other genetic abnormalities developed in AML, FLT3 mutations are significant due to their worse prognostic impacts and therapeutic resistance. As a result, these mutations enable AML cells to develop mechanisms for evading immune surveillance. AREAS COVERED: This review discusses the ways of immune escape of FLT3-mutated AML cells. A literature search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, covering a

Impact of tertiary lymphoid structure-associated biomarkers on pancreatic cancer via a dual-disease analysis of psoriasis and pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer (PC), often referred to as the "king of cancers", has demonstrated limited success with immunotherapies, many of which are still under development. Psoriasis, a common hereditary skin disorder involving genetic, immune, and environmental factors, is only partially understood and has been linked to an elevated risk of various cancers, including PC. However, the precise mechanisms through which psoriasis may influence PC progression remain unclear. A comparative analysis of the immune microenvironments in both diseases revealed that tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) are downre

Complete stranded RNA profiling during early mouse gonad development.

Sexual dimorphism in mouse gonads becomes evident at around embryonic day (E)12.5, followed by germ cell differentiation. While prior studies have concentrated on protein-coding genes, our research expands this by profiling the complete spectrum of stranded RNAs including long and short RNAs in one preparation. We identified 2419 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the comparison between E12.5 and E11.5 mouse gonads, along with 333 and 770 DEGs in E13.5 versus E12.5 and in E14.5 versus E13.5, respectively. A total of 22 RNA types were annotated, highlighting mRNA, tRNA, long non-coding RN

Case Report: From coma to genetic insights: identification of a novel pathogenic variant in Chinese neonatal CTLN1.

Citrullinemia type I (CTLN1) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the arginine succinate synthase gene (ASS1). These variants result in arginine succinate synthase deficiency, leading to a disruption of the urea cycle and hyperammonemia. To date, only a handful of CTLN1 cases have been reported in China. One neonate responded poorly 30 h after birth and progressed to coma several hours later. Family history revealed that the neonate's older brother had also died a few days after birth. Biochemical tests on admission confirmed hyperammonemia and elevated levels of citrulline
