A patient with non-mosaic Turner syndrome and normal fertility had four documented pregnancies, two of which were carried to term. Although her fertility history can be considered normal, she did not have spontaneous sexual maturation or menarche, and bilateral streak gonads were identified on laparotomy for tubal ligation. A review of the literature on non-mosaic Turner syndrome and reproductive function indicates that there are several theories to account for the extreme variety of ovarian function in such patients, but not enough data are yet available to form a conclusion.

Data on the provision of seven types of reproductive health care were collected from private physicians in four specialties: general/family practitioners (GP/FPs), general surgeons, obstetrician-gynecologists and urologists. All ob-gyns, and eight in 10 GP/FPs, provide the pill, IUD or diaphragm. Immature female mice of the NMRI strain were treated with 20 micrograms/day of tamoxifen or vehicle for the first 3 days after birth. At 90 days of age, vaginas, uteri, and ovaries were examined histologically. A benign epithelial change, vaginal adenosis characterized by abnormal growth of columnar epithelium with glandular structures, was found in all of the tamoxifen-treated mice. Anatomic anomalies such as hypospadias, cervical hypoplasia, uterine hypoplasia, and absence of corpora lutea also were commonly observed. Such abnormalities were not found in the control mice.

A population-based case-control study was conducted with 403 white, ovarian cancer patients, 20-79 years of age, who were diagnosed from October 1977 through February 1980 in 11 New York State counties. The study also included 806 controls who were matched to the cases by age, race, and county of residence. The ultimate success of conservative surgery for tubal ectopic pregnancy is difficult to evaluate in the presence of a potentially normal contralateral fallopian tube. Fifteen cases of tubal pregnancy with only one functional fallopian tube were treated by linear salpingostomy at Yale-New Haven Hospital between 1975 and 1980. Dorso-ventral vaginal septa were observed in 38% of the recently weaned BALB/cJ female mice in the production colony at The Jackson Laboratory. The effects of chronic morphine administration on a variety of rat organs were examined. Only the prostates and seminal vesicles were affected by a 3-day period of morphine pellet implantation. In these organs, particularly the seminal vesicles, morphine produced a marked decrease in both the wet and dry tissue weight and a reduction in their secretory activity.
