This paper reports the case of a patient presenting motor and sensitive deficits of the left forearm and hand after a traumatic injury of the median, ulnar, and radial nerves. Decompression and neurolysis of the three nerves was performed. Spontaneous electromyographic activity and the amplitude of compound muscle action potentials (CMAPs) were monitored. Surgery led to an increased amplitude of the aforesaid parameters and a long-term clinical improvement.

The floating elbow in the child is rare and serious. The authors report a traumatic case of floating elbow without vascular and nervous lesions associated in a 6-year-old child. We treated these both fractures of the distal forearm and the supracondylar humeral by respectively cast plaster and a collar and cuff with an anatomical reduction. The radiological and clinical results were excellent with the 29 months follow-up.

A simple, compressive, and easily applied splint which is suitable even for fearful and uncooperative patients after skin grafting for paediatric deep palmar burns is described. The hand, including the wrist and the forearm, is inserted between the palmar and dorsal plates of the splint and thus compression and immobilization act to decrease flexion contracture and dysfunction of the digits. Compression can be easily controlled by the use of leather bands.

We describe two patients with an Essex-Lopresti fracture dislocation in association with a dislocation of the elbow. This combination of injuries has not been previously reported. The Essex-Lopresti fracture is a rare injury, and the associated distal radioulnar dislocation is often missed. Meticulous radiographic evaluation of the wrist, including dynamic stress radiographs of the forearm, can lead to an earlier diagnosis and improved care of these patients.

Based on a clinical material of over 100 cases treated between 1977 and 1982, indications and technique of external fixation of the wrist are reviewed. The basic indication is the comminuted intra-articular fracture of the distal radius. Due to the versatility of the fixateur used, indications have been extended for stabilization of complex carpal dislocations and combined injuries of the forearm and hand. Complications and pitfalls of the method are briefly discussed.

The bone mineral content in the shafts of the forearm in 17 women with cervical fracture of the upper end of the femur was low. The cortex of the femoral neck was also lower than normal. Thus women with hip fractures at an early age may have lower than average total skeletal tissue density. This may be due not simply to systemic osteoporosis but possibly to constitutionally thin bone cortices.

Dexrazoxane(DXZ)is a drug used for treating extravasation(EV)of anthracycline antitumor antibiotics based on 2 of its mechanisms of action through Topo II. Extranodal manifestations of lymphoma are well described in the literature and occur in 20 to 30% of patients. Skeletal muscle involvement is rare.
