The aim of this study was to determine the degree of polysensitization and correlation of the skin prick test (SPT) reaction size to these mites in asthmatic patients.

Bacillus cereus pneumonia is unusual in nonimmunocompromised hosts. We describe fatal cases in 2 metalworkers and the associated investigation. Anthrax toxin genes were identified in B. cereus isolates from both patients using polymerase chain reaction. Finding anthrax toxin genes in non-Bacillus anthracis isolates has, to our knowledge, only been reported once previously.

In order to estimate the frequency of nonspecific bronchial hyperreactivity we investigated 167 pig farmers, 102 cattle breeders and 112 control persons with a bronchial screening test with acetylcholine. We found a significant higher rate of bronchial hyperreactivity in pig farmers (16.2%) versus 7.8% in cattle breeders and 4.3% in control persons.
