Fault Recovery Strategy with Net Load Forecasting Using Bayesian Optimized LSTM for Distribution Networks.

To address the impact of distributed energy resource volatility on distribution network fault restoration, this paper proposes a strategy that incorporates net load forecasting. A Bayesian-optimized long short-term memory neural network is used to accurately predict the net load within fault-affected areas, achieving an R2 of 0.9569 and an RMSE of 12.15 kW. Based on the forecasting results, a fast restoration optimization model is established, with objectives to maximize critical load recovery, minimize switching operations, and reduce network losses. The model is solved using a genetic algori

Leveraging large language models for patient-ventilator asynchrony detection.

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study is to evaluate whether large language models (LLMs) can achieve performance comparable to expert-developed deep neural networks in detecting flow starvation (FS) asynchronies during mechanical ventilation. METHODS: Popular LLMs (GPT-4, Claude-3.5, Gemini-1.5, DeepSeek-R1) were tested on a dataset of 6500 airway pressure cycles from 28 patients, classifying breaths into three FS categories. They were also tasked with generating executable code for one-dimensional convolutional neural network (CNN-1D) and Long Short-Term Memory networks. Model performance

Delineating the short- and long-term impact of ionizing radiation on antigen-inexperienced CD8+ T cell subsets.

Radiation-induced lymphopenia (RIL) remains a challenging side effect of radiation therapy that is often associated with poor prognosis and reduced overall survival. Although CD8+ T cells are highly radiosensitive, the dynamics of quantitative and qualitative changes to the CD8+ T cell pool following exposure to high doses of ionizing radiation (IR) remain understudied. Herein, we sought to determine the long-term impact of sublethal whole body irradiation (WBI) on the antigen-inexperienced (Ag-inexperienced) CD8+ T cell pool, comprising naive (TN) and virtual memory (TVM) CD8+ T cells. We sho

A Structured and Methodological Review on Multi-View Human Activity Recognition for Ambient Assisted Living.

Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) leverages technology to support the elderly and individuals with disabilities. A key challenge in these systems is efficient Human Activity Recognition (HAR). However, no study has systematically compared single-view (SV) and multi-view (MV) Human Activity Recognition approaches. This review addresses this gap by analyzing the evolution from single-view to multi-view recognition systems, covering benchmark datasets, feature extraction methods, and classification techniques. We examine how activity recognition systems have transitioned to multi-view architectures u

PSMA-Targeted Nanoparticles with PI3K/mTOR Dual Inhibitor Downregulate P-Glycoprotein and Inactivate Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells for Enhanced Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer.

Acquired drug resistance and the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment significantly limit the efficacy of chemotherapy and immunotherapy in advanced prostate cancer. Blocking the PI3K/mTOR signaling pathway has been recently proved as a new strategy to improve sensitivity to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Herein, glutathione (GSH)-sensitive nanoparticles (PSMA-NP/BEZ) are developed that can target prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), loaded with PI3K/mTOR dual inhibitor prodrug BEZ235. BEZ235 can be released from PSMA-NP/BEZ in response to elevated GSH levels in prostate cancer tiss

From shadow to sustainability: How informality, environmental taxes, and green innovation reshape carbon and biodiversity futures in the G7 countries.

The shadow economy remains a blind spot in climate-and-biodiversity policy. However, its interaction with fiscal and technological forces can significantly affect the success or failure of sustainability transitions. We propose a novel integrated framework that combines econometric models with deep learning to examine the role of the shadow economy, environmental taxes and green innovation on consumption-based CO2 emissions and biodiversity in the G7 countries. Using data from 1994 to 2020, the study employs Cross-sectionally Autoregressive Distributed-lag (CS-ARDL) and Fully Modified Ordinary

Artificial intelligence in nephrology: predicting CKD progression and personalizing treatment.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) represents a major and expanding global health challenge, with prevalence rising due to aging populations, diabetes, hypertension, and environmental factors. Conventional risk assessment tools such as the CKD Epidemiology Collaboration equation and the Kidney Failure Risk Equation are limited in precision, generalizability, and their ability to identify rapid progressors in early stages. This review examines the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI), encompassing machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and multimodal data integra

Olfactory dysfunction and altered cortical excitability in the mouse model of Fragile X Syndrome.

Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is the most common monogenetic cause of autism and inherited intellectual disability. A key feature of FXS symptomatology is altered sensory processing greatly affecting FXS individual's life quality. Here, we use a combination of behavioral tests and slice physiology tools to study the neurophysiological alterations underlying aberrant sensory processing in the olfactory system of the FXS mouse model (Fmr1 KO). We focused on the piriform cortex (PC), since it is in this brain region where olfactory information is integrated and ultimately decoded. Using a go-no go beh

Ultrasound-Assisted H2 Transmitter Enables Hydrogen-Gene Therapy to Prevent Anesthesia/Surgery-Induced Cognitive Impairment.

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) frequently occurs after surgery, resulting in extended hospitalizations, higher healthcare expenses, and potential long-term cognitive impairment. Despite its significant impact, effective preventive and therapeutic strategies for POCD are still lacking. Neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of POCD. To address this, a H2 emitter is developed that employs hydrogen-gene therapy facilitated by ultrasound, allowing for the repair of the neuroinflammatory microenvironment in a spatiotemporally controllable manner to effectively preven

Connectional diaschisis associated with acute psychosis after right thalamic stroke: A case report.

We report a rare case of sudden-onset psychiatric syndrome following a right thalamic ischemic event. Potential mechanisms involving both structural and functional thalamic disconnection are considered. A 51-year-old man was admitted to the Neurology Unit at the Azienda Ospedale-Università of Padova with sudden-onset confusion and amnesia, accompanied by visual and auditory hallucinations and emotional lability. An initial head CT scan showed no evidence of stroke; however, a follow-up MRI revealed a recent ischemic lesion in the right mediodorsal nucleus (MDN) of the thalamus. A brain [18F]FD

Maternal exposure to advanced oxidation protein products induces neurodevelopmental abnormalities in the offspring of mice.

Preeclampsia (PE) not only causes multi-organ damage to the mother but also exerts long-term effects on the development of the offspring. Prenatal exposure to PE has been demonstrated to result in deleterious neurodevelopment and behavioral abnormalities in the offspring. Our prior research has evidenced that advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs), both the biomarker and promoter of oxidative stress, contribute to the pathogenesis of preeclampsia by inducing trophoblast dysfunction and systemic inflammation. However, it remains unclear whether offspring mice exposed to placental oxidative

Lower Limb Motion Recognition Based on sEMG and CNN-TL Fusion Model.

To enhance the classification accuracy of lower limb movements, a fusion recognition model integrating a surface electromyography (sEMG)-based convolutional neural network, transformer encoder, and long short-term memory network (CNN-Transformer-LSTM, CNN-TL) was proposed in this study. By combining these advanced techniques, significant improvements in movement classification were achieved. Firstly, sEMG data were collected from 20 subjects as they performed four distinct gait movements: walking upstairs, walking downstairs, walking on a level surface, and squatting. Subsequently, the gathere

STING-activating cyclic dinucleotide-manganese nanoparticles evoke robust immunity against acute myeloid leukemia.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is one of the most common types of leukemia in adults with a 5-year survival rate of 30.5%. These poor patient outcomes are attributed to tumor relapse, stemming from ineffective innate immune activation, T cell tolerance, and a lack of immunological memory. Thus, new strategies are needed to activate innate and effector immune cells and evoke long-term immunity against AML. One approach to address these issues is through Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) pathway activation, which produces Type I Interferons (Type I IFN) critical for innate and adaptive immune

Exploring the therapeutic potential of sγPNA-141: Pharmacodynamics and mechanistic insights during ischemic stroke recovery.

MicroRNA-141-3p plays a detrimental role in the pathology of ischemic stroke, presenting a new target for stroke treatment. This study introduces and validates a novel class of peptide nucleic acid (PNA)-based miR-141-3p inhibitors known as serine gamma PNA-141 (sγPNA-141) for ischemic stroke treatment. After synthesis, physicochemical characterization, and nanoparticle encapsulation of sγPNA-141, we compared its safety and efficacy with traditional phosphorothioate- and regular PNA-based anti-miR-141-3p (PNA-141) in vitro, followed by detailed in vivo and ex vivo efficacy testing of sγPNA-141

Dexmedetomidine improves the circulatory dysfunction of the glymphatic system induced by sevoflurane through the PI3K/AKT/ΔFosB/AQP4 pathway in young mice.

Multiple sevoflurane exposures may damage the developing brain. The neuroprotective function of dexmedetomidine has been widely confirmed in animal experiments and human studies. However, the effect of dexmedetomidine on the glymphatic system has not been clearly studied. We hypothesized that dexmedetomidine could alleviate sevoflurane-induced circulatory dysfunction of the glymphatic system in young mice. Six-day-old C57BL/6 mice were exposed to 3% sevoflurane for 2 h daily, continuously for 3 days. Intraperitoneal injection of either normal saline or dexmedetomidine was administered before e

Augmented the sensitivity of photothermal-ferroptosis therapy in triple-negative breast cancer through mitochondria-targeted nanoreactor.

Ferroptosis primarily relies on reactive oxygen (ROS) production and lipid peroxide (LPO) accumulation, which opens up new opportunities for tumor therapy. However, a standalone ferroptosis process is insufficient in inhibiting tumor progression. Unlike previously reported Fe-based nanomaterials, we have engineered a novel nanoreactor named IR780/Ce@EGCG/APT, which uses metal-polyphenols network (Ce@EGCG) based on rare-earth cerium and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) to encapsulate IR780 and modified with the aptamer (AS1411). The intricately designed nanoreactor is specifically taken up by tu

Adaptation and Validation of the Turkish Version of the Brain Fog Scale.

Brain fog is a condition that is characterized by poor concentration, memory loss, decreased cognitive function, and mental fatigue. Although it is generally known as a long-term COVID-19 symptom, brain fog has also been reported to be caused by many other diseases. Thus, it is necessary to assess this condition in certain populations. This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Brain Fog Scale in a Turkish population. We conducted the study in two phases. In a pilot study including 125 participants, we confirmed the suitability of the scale for validity analyses and then
