The late results of aortic aneurysms treated by external grafting are presented. This procedure consists of completely dissecting the involved aortic segment and suturing it in a well-fitted tubular Dacron prosthesis. The operation was carried out under the following circumstances: (a) Small fusiform aneurysm of the abdominal aorta. (b) Small and medium-sized aneurysms of the thoracic aorta. The conditions associated with prolapse of the posterior leaflet of the mitral valve are multiple. The mechanisms of mitral valve prolapse as well as the pathogenesis of pain and ectopic impulse formation are reviewed. Propranolol appears to be the drug of choice for the symptomatic treatment of patients with this syndrome since it decreases myocardial oxygen demand and wall tension thus reducing or abolishing the discrepancy between myocardial oxygen demand and supply within the mitral apparatus. A significant amount of variability exists between observers in designating cup/diac (C/D) ratios. Further, different methods are used for evaluating the size of the cup. On method uses a combination of contour and color, the other specifically measures contour and pallor separately. This study confirms that these methods yeild different numerical results. Characteristics of 44 outbreaks of "paralytic myoglobinuria" in yearling cattle reported to veterinary investigation centres during 1974 and 1975 are described. The clinical syndrome and associated nutrition and management of cattle are discussed in the light of present knowledge of this disease with particular reference to the diagnostic and epidemiological value of plasma creatine phosphokinase and blood glutathione peroxidase activities.

The pattern of arterial occlusion and related lesions have been studied in 26 cases with 38 medullary infarcts. In 10 of these cases, only the intracranial vessels were examined. In the 16 other cases, the entire cerebral arterial supply was dissected. Medial infarcts were more often related to occlusion of the vertebral artery involving the termination of the artery (7/10 cases). In 6 cases a thrombosis on an atheromatous plaque and, once, an embolus of cardiac origin, were found.
