Themes of Incongruence in the Relationships between Care Partners and Care Recipients During Discharge from Hospital to Home.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Hospital-to-home transitions constitute vulnerable periods during which health systems increasingly rely on unpaid care partners to help care recipients execute discharge plans. We examine how mutuality and incongruence within care partner-care recipient dyads may shape discharge preparedness and dyadic self-efficacy during care transitions. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We conducted a secondary qualitative analysis of PROJECT ACHIEVE focus groups and key informant interviews with 248 participants (138 care recipients, 110 care partners) across six U.S. health system

Chemotherapy duration and patient-reported outcomes in HER2-positive early breast cancer: Results from the TRAIN-3 study.

BACKGROUND: Anti-HER2 based (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy has substantially improved outcomes for patients with stage II-III HER2-positive breast cancer but often leads to long-term toxicities that impair survivors' health-related quality of life (HRQOL). The TRAIN-3 study demonstrated that shortening neoadjuvant chemotherapy based on early complete response on breast MRI preserves efficacy. The impact of chemotherapy duration on HRQOL remains unclear. Here, we report the results from the pre-planned HRQOL analyses. METHODS: HRQOL was assessed at baseline, and at 6, 12 and 24 months using the EO

Operationalizing patient flow in high-complexity service lines: a health system perspective using oncology care.

BACKGROUND: Health systems face increasing oncology demand amid workforce constraints and rising care complexity. Outpatient cancer volumes in the United States are projected to grow nearly 18% over the next decade, driven by earlier diagnoses, evolving screening guidelines, and continued site-of-care shifts - while inpatient volumes remain essentially flat but grow in case mix complexity. Many organizations attempt to improve access through isolated interventions - navigation programs, clinic expansion, or scheduling redesign - yet delays in treatment initiation and operational inefficiencies

Leveraging wearables to safeguard workers in a hotter climate.

Rises in global temperatures have threatened the health, safety, and productivity of workers who perform physically demanding work. Traditionally, occupational heat illness prevention plan have relied on environmental monitoring and administrative controls, however, these approaches do not account for the considerable intra- and inter-variability in physiological responses to extreme heat. In contrast, elite sport has served as a valuable test bed for investigating thermoregulation, exertional heat illness, and the feasibility of real-time physiological monitoring. Experiences from recent Olym

Advances in Chemotherapy in Pediatrics Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (Pall): Actions, Associated Risks and Emerging Therapies.

Pediatric Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (PALL) represents the most frequent type of cancer in children, affecting about 25% of all childhood cancers. The main treatment for PALL is chemotherapy, which leads to survival rates of 85-90% in high-income countries. Usually, chemotherapy is administered in combination with several drugs given in phases, such as induction, consolidation, intensification, and maintenance. Despite showing great success in overall survivability in most cases, these treatments are linked to serious acute and long-term side effects, such as low blood counts, mental health is

Analyzing the relationship between ableist microaggressions and well-being in a cross-sectional sample of adults with varied disabilities.

BACKGROUND: In prior research ableist microaggressions have correlated with higher measures of psychological distress. However, research has not yet examined the relationship between ableist microaggressions and well-being as measured not merely by the absence of distressing mental health symptoms, but rather about effective functioning and flourishing. OBJECTIVE: The present study addressed this gap by analyzing the relationship between ableist microaggressions and well-being and assessing if different coping strategies moderate the relationship in a sample of adults with varied disabilities

Infectious diseases, infection control, vaccines and long-term care: an European interdisciplinary Council on ageing consensus document.

The accelerating ageing of populations worldwide presents profound challenges for public health, particularly within long-term care facilities (LTCFs). Older adults, often burdened by multimorbidity, frailty, and immunosenescence, are highly vulnerable to vaccine-preventable diseases such as influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), pertussis, and herpes zoster (HZ). Despite the availability of effective vaccines, immunization coverage in LTCFs remains inadequate, hindered by fragmented national policies, insufficient mandates, and systemic neglect of adul

Factors influencing the intention of young adults to adopt genotype-based personalised advice on diet and physical activity according to perceived weight status.

Genotype-based dietary and physical activity advice can be delivered to young adults before unhealthy lifestyle behaviours or metabolic and physiological conditions have developed. The aim of the present study was to investigate the factors that influence the intention to adopt genotype-based personalised advice on diet and physical activity in young adults who perceive themselves to be a healthy weight versus those who perceive themselves to be overweight or obese. An online survey of 396 young adults (18-25 years) evaluated background factors (participant characteristics (including perceptio
