The present study evaluated the prognostic significance of right ventricular-pulmonary arterial (RV-PA) coupling, assessed by the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion to systolic pulmonary artery pressure (TAPSE/sPAP) ratio, in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for severe aortic stenosis (AS). This retrospective, single-center study involved 403 patients (mean age: 78.2 ± 8.4; 50.9% female). OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the utility of plasma BNP measurement in the long term follow-up of patients with surgically repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF).
METHODS: From 2002 to 2008, plasma BNP concentration was measured in 130 patients with TOF at the age of mean 16.1+/-7.1 years and mean 13.0+/-6.5 years after surgically repair. BACKGROUND: Patients after atrial switch operation for transposition of the great arteries have limited exercise performance. Rigid atrial baffles may cause a relative preload reduction. Previous studies have had suboptimal control groups, which ideally should consist of patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) without previous heart surgery, having a systemic right ventricle, but lacking rigid atrial baffles.
