Generalized glycogenosis is a lethal autosomal recessive disease caused by a deficient activity of the acidic 1,4-α-glucosidase enzyme and characterized by an accumulation of glycogen within lysosomes. Three mutations in the GAA gene causing bovine generalized glycogenosis have been identified in two cattle breeds, Brahman and Shorthorn. Studies about the behaviours of mixed-breed dogs are rare, although mixed-breeds represent the majority of the world's dog population. We have conducted two surveys to investigate the behavioural, demographic, and dog keeping differences between purebred and mixed-breed companion dogs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between breed and the histopathological grade of canine mast cell tumours (MCTs). A retrospective survey of pathology data of 9375 histopathologically confirmed diagnoses of cutaneous MCTs in the US was evaluated in the context of breed prevalence in over two million registered purebred dogs. Cone-rod dystrophy is a progressive inherited retinal degenerative disorder that occurs in humans and dogs. The deletion in the nephronophthisis 4 (NPHP4) gene was established as a causative mutation in standard wire-haired Dachshunds. We analyzed all varieties of Dachshunds from the Czech Republic and five other dog breeds and found that the deletion in the NPHP4 (in heterozygous state) is present not only in standard-, but also in miniature wire-haired Dachshunds, but not in other varieties of Dachshunds or in other breeds.

Clinically healthy Norwegian elkhounds were tested for glucosuria by urine dipstick analysis and the results were compared with a group of dogs of other breeds during 15 dog shows. Fifty-two of 187 Norwegian elkhounds (27.3 per cent) and 15 of 202 dogs of other breeds (7.4 per cent) were glucosuric during the dog shows; the difference was statistically significant. Two of the glucosuric elkhounds and one non-glucosuric elkhound developed signs of kidney disease during the year of the study.

Using data on age at 100 kg of three pig breeds (Large White, Landrace and Duroc) the connectedness between herds in China was evaluated by the connectedness rating (CR) method. The results show that most herds in China have low average CR (0-3.59%) with other herds. In Large White, of the 36 herds analyzed there are 20 herds, which are connected with at least one other herd. The Havanese is a toy breed that presents with a wide range of developmental abnormalities. Skeletal defects, particularly osteochondrodysplasia (OCD), are the most frequently observed anomalies. Cataracts, liver shunts, heart murmurs, and missing incisors are also common in this breed.
