A 57-year-old woman without significant medical history presented. She had suffered from dyspnoea for the past 2 days and persistent spasmodic abdominal complaints for the past 2 weeks. Physical examination revealed tachypnoea, tachycardia and slight abdominal tenderness. Laboratory investigations revealed hypoxaemia and a strongly elevated D-dimer level. We describe the case of an elderly albino man who presented with the typical features of a caecal malignancy and underwent a right hemi-colectomy. Histological assessment subsequently revealed the tumour to be a primary malignant melanoma of the colon. This unexpected diagnosis raises interesting questions regarding the embryology and aetiology of this rare tumour and the anticipated prognosis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a primary colonic melanoma associated with oculocutaneous albinism.

Clostridial myonecrosis (CM) is a rare infection that usually arises after traumatic injury. Spontaneous or nontraumatic CM is even more rare and has been described in association with colorectal malignancy. These infections carry a high mortality rate and require urgent surgical intervention and intensive antibiotic therapy. This report describes a patient who presented with nontraumatic CM of the lower extremity in association with adenocarcinoma of the cecum.

We herein report the case of a 69-year old woman presenting with an abdominal mass, who was found to have a mixed mesodermal tumor (MMT) of the cecum. Imaging studies and endoscopic investigations were consistent with the diagnosis of a nonepithelial malignant tumor of the cecum. In an 8-year-old Labrador Retriever with progressive anorexia, constipation, and depression, CT revealed intussusception of the cecum into the ascending colon and a small cecal mass showing strong enhancement on arterial phase. The ileocecocolic junction was surgically resected and histologically diagnosed as cecocolic intussusception with carcinoid tumor. The carcinoid tumor worked as a lead point of intussusception in this case. Dual phasic CT is useful to assess the presence of gastrointestinal tumors as lead points in old dogs with intussusception.

Gastrointestinal bleeding caused by benign tumours of the colon is rare. A 70-year-old woman with a significant medical history of diabetes, hypertension and ischaemic heart disease was presented in consultation with marked anaemia secondary to lower gastrointestinal bleeding with a right colonic tumour found by CT. The patient underwent a right colectomy without complications. Histopathological examination revealed a 4 cm transmural caecum lipoma with mucosal ulceration. The patient is asymptomatic without anaemia at 6 months follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Application of laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) is increasing across surgical disciplines. In addition to the possibility of decreased postoperative pain, LESS offers better cosmesis with virtually 'scarless' surgeries, while avoiding the increased costs and complexity of natural orifice surgery. Instrument conflict minimization often requires the crossing of articulating instruments, which we believe can be more intuitively facilitated using the daVinci-S((R)) robotic system. We describe our early experience with three robotic single-incision right hemicolectomies.

INTRODUCTION: Primary colorectal lymphomas are particularly rare and contribute to 0.2% of all colorectal malignancies. Gastroentrointestinal (GI) tract is most commonly a secondary involvement site for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Primary NHL of GI tract are very rare, constituting about 1-4% of all GI tract malignancies. In GI tract, two-thirds of all cases occur in stomach followed by small intestine (9%). Clinical presentation depends upon the site of involvement. Pain, loss of appetite, and weight loss are the most common symptoms, while bleeding occurs more with gastric involvement.

A rare case of cecal lymphangioma which presented as intussusception was reported. The patient was a 28-year-old female who suffered from vomiting, abdominal pain and mass for 6 days. Ultrasonography revealed a multilocular cyst that measured 7 cm in maximal diameter, and an adjacent target-like mass with concentric layering in the right abdomen.
