PURPOSE: Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common intraocular malignancy in adults, with high metastatic risk and poor prognosis. Current screening and triaging methods for melanocytic choroidal tumors face inherent limitations, particularly in regions with limited access to specialized ocular oncologists. This study proposes a reference framework for future research in UM detection. It highlights the trade-offs between different computer vision (CV) approaches based on data availability, computer resources, annotation effort, and clinical applicability.

The purpose of this case series was to evaluate the features of circumscribed choroidal hemangioma on pseudocolor ultrawide-field (UWF) retinal images simulating choroidal melanoma and compare it to fundoscopic appearance. All four patients underwent full ophthalmological examination, including dilated fundus examination, ultrasonography, and UWF imaging (UWFI). PURPOSE: To investigate the validity of assigning patients whose eyes have been removed for ciliary body or choroidal melanoma to risk groups for metastasis based on the identification of microcirculatory patterns in one cross-section taken from the center of the tumor.
METHODS: Multiple levels were cut through the blocks of 15 ciliary body or choroidal melanomas until the tumor was exhausted. Each level was examined for the presence of microvascular networks and parallel vessels with cross-linking histologic features strongly associated with death from metastatic melanoma.

A case of embryonal sarcoma of the lung in a 3-year-old boy is reported. The tumour consisted exclusively of immature mesenchymal structures. Lipoblastic, rhabdomyoblastic, and fibroblastic components can be demonstrated. Epithelial tumour structure are absent. The differential diagnosis to the pulmoblastoma is discussed. The child died after 11 months despite of intensive surgical, radiological, and cytostatic therapy by an extensive local tumour recurrence and metastases within the other lung and the choroid plexus of the brain.

Transconjunctival cryopexy was applied to a malignant melanoma of the ciliary body and choroid of a 46-year-old white man. The tumor immediately became gray-white and pigment cells were liberated in the anterior chamber. Subsequently, an enucleation was performed which showed a localized area of cryodestruction of the melanoma which was lined by macrophages. The significance of this finding in implications for the use of cryopexy in the management of melanomas are discussed.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This article reviewed and summarized recent published data on ocular imaging findings and treatment of posterior segment manifestations of ocular metastasis.
RECENT FINDINGS: Advanced ocular imaging can help differentiate ocular metastases from other mimicking lesions, including primary intraocular tumors or infections.
