Adult ileocecal intussusception as an unusual presentation of ascending colon adenocarcinoma: a case report from Sudan.

Adult colonic intussusception, is a rare entity that is typically associated with underlying organic pathologies, notably colorectal tumors, unlike pediatric cases, which are mostly idiopathic. We present a unique case of a 42-year-old female with ascending colon adenocarcinoma, where ileocecal intussusception served as the initial clinical manifestation. The patient's non-specific symptoms, familial history of colon cancer and subsequent diagnostic evaluations underscore the importance of considering malignancy in such presentations. Successful laparoscopic right hemicolectomy resolved the in

[A Case of Gangrenous Cholecystitis Complicated by Ascending Colon Cancer, Successfully Treated with Two-Stage Surgery].

An 80-year-old woman with epigastric pain and weight loss presented to our hospital with cancer of the ascending colon and cholelithiasis. Initially hospitalized for a suspected gallstone attack, she later developed gangrenous cholecystitis. She underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which revealed abscess formation and necrosis extending into the gallbladder duct. The patient was discharged on the 10th postoperative day but was readmitted for a laparoscopic right hemicolectomy. During this surgery, extensive adhesions were encountered, which prolonged the procedure; however, it was complet

[A Case of Early Ascending Colon Cancer Complicated the Mesenteric Phlebosclerosis Who Underwent Laparoscopic Subtotal Colectomy].

A 71-year-old woman who have been taking Sanshishi for 50 years until the age of 70 for dermatitis underwent colonoscopy( CS)to reveal the reason of abdominal pain. CS showed ascending colon tumor(AT)with major axis 3 cm and suspicious of the mesenteric phlebosclerosis. Although endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)was performed for AT, colon perforation due to colonic wall fibrosis was occurred and ESD was suspended. Therefore, surgical resection was planned. Intraoperative observations by laparoscopy showed that the color of colon serosa from the cecum to the splenic flexure was grayish whit

[A Case of Ascending Colon Cancer with Hepatic Metastases Showing Remarkable Efficacy of CapeOX plus Bevacizumab].

We report a case of ascending colon cancer with hepatic metastases that was treated by CapeOX plus bevacizumab with remarkable efficacy. A 40-year-old female patient presented with a medical history of surgery for resection of right breast cancer4 years ago, left-sided transverse colon 2 years ago, and right ovarian cancer 6 months ago. Follow-up computed tomography(CT)found wall thickening from the ascending colon to cecum. She was diagnosed with an ascending colon cancer by colonoscopy, and underwent right hemicolectomy. One month after the surgery, her serum marker carcinoembryonic antigen(

[A Case of Curatively Resected Ascending Colon Cancer with Ovarian Metastasis and Peritoneal Dissemination after Chemotherapy].

A52 -year-old woman was diagnosed with ascending colon cancer with ovarian metastasis and peritoneal dissemination. Since the patient did not have symptoms with intestinal obstruction, mFOLFOX6 plus bevacizumab(Bmab)was performed for 12 cycles. After chemotherapy, the tumors of ascending colon and ovary were significantly shrunken and novel distant metastasis was not observed by CT scans. Therefore, the tumors were considered to be resectable and curative resection was performed. In the surgical findings, the peritoneal disseminations were localized, and right colectomy, bilateral oophorectomy

[Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the ascending colon: report of a case and Korean literature review].

Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the colon is an extremely rare malignancy. A 48-year-old male visited our hospital for screening colonoscopy. Colonoscopic examination showed a 1 cm sized sessile polyp in the ascending colon. The patient underwent endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) without any complication. The pathologic findings were compatible with squamous differentiation of tumor cells in inflammatory colonic mucosa. The tumor was confined to the mucosa and the margins of the excised tissue were found to be free of the tumor. There were no other primary sites and no distant metastases i

Caecum and ascending colon herniated in the lesser sac through the Winslow's hiatus. A case report.

Herniation of the caecum and the ascending colon in the lesser sac through the Winslow's hiatus is an uncommon cause of intestinal occlusion. The clinical presentation can be acute or chronic. The diagnosis often remains unclear before surgical operation, even with the assistance of abdominal CT, providing an image of a digestive structure in the lesser sac and the presence of mesentery between the portal triad and the vena cava. The treatment consists of reducing the internal hernia, which could be considered under laparoscopy.

Ascending colon cancer in a patient with situs inversus totalis: a case report and review of the literature.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Situs inversus totalis (SIT) is a rare congenital condition characterized by the complete mirror-image transposition of thoracic and abdominal organs. Performing laparoscopic surgery in such patients presents unique technical and ergonomic challenges due to the reversed anatomy. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 60-year-old male who presented with an incidental finding of an ascending colonic tumor during routine investigations. The patient was already known to have SIT. A laparoscopic-assisted ascending hemicolectomy was performed with reversed port plac

Ascending colon carcinoma presenting as ileocecal intussusception in an adult-a case report with review of literature.

Intussusception is telescoping of a proximal segment of gastrointestinal tract within the lumen of another. Intussusception is a common presentation in pediatric population and present with a classic triad of abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea and a palpable mass. However, intussusception in adults is a rare entity accounting for only 5% of the total cases and is the underlying cause for 1%-5% of all the cases of intestinal obstruction. The adult population caters a varied nonspecific symptoms making diagnosis challenging. We present the case of 32-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain

Massive tumor invasion into the portal venous system in an operated case of adenocarcinoma of ascending colon.

Malignant portal vein thrombosis in colon carcinoma is very rare. We report a rare case of tumor invasion into the portal venous system in an operated case of adenocarcinoma of ascending colon in a 55-year-old lady. On contrast-enhanced CT, circumferential asymmetric wall thickening was seen in the cecum and ascending colon with enhancing filling defect in the middle colic vein, suggestive of tumor thrombus. The findings were confirmed intraoperatively and an extended right hemicolectomy was performed. Adjuvant chemotherapy was planned, but she was lost to follow-up and returned four months la

[Cancer of the Ascending Colon and Left Breast in an Older Adult Complicated by Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm].

An 87-year-old woman with a gradually enlarging mass in her left breast, diagnosed as having left-sided breast cancer with skin invasion by a local practitioner, was referred to our hospital. Computed tomography revealed ascending colon cancer with abdominal wall invasion and a thoracic aortic aneurysm(Stanford type B), in addition to breast cancer with skin invasion. A thoracic endovascular aortic repair and bypass surgery between the subclavian arteries were both performed for the thoracic aortic aneurysm. After 6 days, a right hemicolectomy and D2 lymphadenectomy were performed for the asce

Bacterial and Host Determinants of Group B Streptococcal Vaginal Colonization and Ascending Infection in Pregnancy.

Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a gram-positive bacteria that asymptomatically colonizes the vaginal tract. However, during pregnancy maternal GBS colonization greatly predisposes the mother and baby to a wide range of adverse outcomes, including preterm birth (PTB), stillbirth, and neonatal infection. Although many mechanisms involved in GBS pathogenesis are partially elucidated, there is currently no approved GBS vaccine. The development of a safe and effective vaccine that can be administered during or prior to pregnancy remains a principal objective in the field, because current antibiotic-

Primary inflammation of an epiploic appendix of the ascending colon. Is atypical presentation a reason for emergency laparotomy?

Right lower quadrant pain is a very common symptom in everyday clinical practice, and of variable etiology. In patients arriving in the emergency room with sudden-onset right lower quadrant pain, the commonest cause is acute appendicitis. Primary epiploic appendagitis, a rare entity, with a clinical presentation similar to other causes of acute abdomen, and one that subsides spontaneously, can constitute a problem in differential diagnosis, because it is a condition best treated conservatively. The exact diagnosis is a prerequisite for conservative treatment. We present the case of a 62 year o

Synchronous primary carcinomas of the ampulla of Vater and ascending colon in a patient with multiple flat adenomas.

Multiple primary cancers occurring in the same patients have been reported to represent 1.8-3.9% of all cancers. The majority of all patients reported to have had a combination of simultaneous neoplastic changes in the ampulla of Vater and the colon showed familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) syndrome. Variants of familial adenomatous polyposis coli are: attenuated adenomatous polyposis coli (AAPC, previously also known as flat adenoma syndrome) and multiple adenoma coli. AAPC is characterized clinically by many, but usually fewer than 100, colonic lesions that are characteristically slightly

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the ascending colon in a patient with becker muscular dystrophy: report of a case.

We herein present the findings of a 10-year-old boy with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the ascending colon which caused intussusception and intestinal bleeding. He had a history of Becker muscular dystrophy. However, he had neither hypertrophic calves nor cardiomyopathy, and his serum creatine kinase (CK) level always exceeded 2000 IU/l. Preoperatively, a laboratory examination revealed high serum levels of CK (2038IU/l), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and the blood hemoglobin level was 7.0g/dl. A barium enema examination revealed
