METHODS: Randomized trial of supplementary interviewing techniques during routine partner notification contact interviews for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis in Colorado Springs, CO. The outcome of screening the household contacts of 49 newly diagnosed tuberculous children as currently practised in the Paediatric Unit of the Port Moresby General Hospital is described. We can see various approaches such as the Irish model, which gives due importance to the establishment of contact tracing teams (CTT). In the case of Philippine prisons with high congestion rates, however, we may have to go back to certain healthcare basics to address COVID-19 transmissions.

An outbreak of 59 cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) originated with 13 cases linked by a 7 h, 17% occupancy flight into Ireland, summer 2020. The flight-associated attack rate was 9.8-17.8%. Spread to 46 non-flight cases occurred country-wide. Asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic transmission in-flight from a point source is implicated by 99% homology across the virus genome in five cases travelling from three different continents. Restriction of movement on arrival and robust contact tracing can limit propagation post-flight.

In June 2026, an intensive care physician deployed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and previously vaccinated against Ebola virus developed fatigue, nausea and headaches while returning to France. Bundibugyo virus was identified with RT-PCR. The patient was treated with remdesivir and recovered fully. Contact tracing identified five low-risk contacts and no secondary cases. Stringent infection prevention and control measures and multidisciplinary collaboration are important when managing suspected or confirmed Ebola disease cases, even with low viral loads.

The last report of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) in North Macedonia was more than 50 years ago in the northwest. We report on a fatal CCHF case following a Hyalomma tick bite in the east of the country in July 2023. Tracing of 67 contacts identified CCHF in one healthcare worker (HCW) providing care for the patient. Monitoring of contacts is concluded (including further 11 HCW contacts), thus far 28 days after the death of the case no additional cases were identified.
