BACKGROUND: Grover's disease (GD) is a relatively rare transient dermatosis that can be idiopathic or acquired. Acquired GD may occur secondary to internal triggers such as medications and malignancies and external factors such as friction.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this report is to describe the clinical and histological presentation of drug-induced Grover's disease (DIGD) and discuss potential pathogenic mechanisms.
METHODS: A systemic review of the literature was performed to identify medications implicated in DIGD.
RESULTS: We identified 13 reports of patients with DIGD. Most patients p

Antimelanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 dermatomyositis (anti-MDA5 DM) is an amyopathic subtype of DM that presents with the classic cutaneous findings of DM, such as a heliotrope rash, Gottron papules, and the shawl sign, combined with mucocutaneous ulcerations. This subtype of DM also is highly associated with rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (ILD). We report 2 cases of a heretofore novel presentation of the overlap of these cutaneous features in the form of an ulcerative heliotrope rash; furthermore, the rash was associated with progression of ILD in both cases. Finally,

The pine processionary caterpillar is the larval form of the Thaumetopoea pityocampa moth. Mediterranean forests regularly suffer plagues of this insect, which has been moving north as a result of global warming. When the small urticating hairs that develop during the last 3 larval stages are shed and can become airborne. If they come in contact with skin, they can cause a variety of reactions, notably contact urticaria and papular rashes. Irritation can also occur if the hairs lodge in the mucosa of the conjunctiva or in the respiratory tract. Several cases of anaphylactic reactions have been

Rashes are extremely common in newborns and can be a significant source of parental concern. Although most rashes are transient and benign, some require additional work-up. Erythema toxicum neonatorum, acne neonatorum, and transient neonatal pustular melanosis are transient vesiculopustular rashes that can be diagnosed clinically based on their distinctive appearances. Infants with unusual presentations or signs of systemic illness should be evaluated for Candida, viral, and bacterial infections. Milia and miliaria result from immaturity of skin structures. Miliaria rubra (also known as heat r
