OBJECTIVE: The prenatal detection rate of isolated fetal limb abnormalities ranges from 4 to 29.5%. Our aim was to determine the accuracy of a detailed ultrasound protocol in detecting isolated fetal limb abnormalities Methods: This is a retrospective study of infants born at our institution with isolated limb defects from 2009 to 2014. Antepartum and postpartum records were reviewed for genetic testing results. We routinely image both upper and lower extremities, including all long bones, hands, feet, fingers and toes. Treacher Collins' syndrome, or mandibulofacial dysostosis, is a rare, autosomal-dominant disorder. We describe the recurrence of this anomaly in the fetus of a patient who previously had delivered a severely affected infant. The ultrasonographic findings of hydramnios, absence of fetal swallowing movements, and poor growth of the biparietal diameter and head circumference permitted us to suggest the diagnosis antenatally of another affected child.

A 30-year-old pregnant woman with a history of an uncomplicated curettage for incomplete abortion was seen at 33 weeks' gestation with decreased fetal movement and intermittent abdominal pain for 1 week. Ultrasonographic evaluation demonstrated a singleton vertex pregnancy, oligohydramnios, and a fundal uterine rent continuous with a large, fluid-filled cystic mass. Laparotomy revealed a right cornual uterine rent with hourglass amniotic sac and fluid. A healthy infant was delivered by cesarean section.

A case of combined intrauterine and tubal pregnancy after in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer is reported. As soon as the diagnosis was made at 9 weeks gestation, the fetal heart movement of the tubal pregnancy disappeared, and the patient was managed without surgery throughout the pregnancy course. After an infant was delivered, a right salpingectomy was performed and the diagnosis was histologically confirmed. Risk factors and treatments of combined pregnancy are discussed.
