Rickettsioses are a group of tick-borne infectious diseases. The clinical presentation is characterised by unspecified manifestations seen in illnesses such as dengue, zika, and chikungunya, so identification is complicated. The greatest impact occurs among the world's poorest populations. Rickettsioses have hardly been studied from a qualitative perspective to show the cultural horizon of the people affected. We aimed to describe the perception of Mayan indigenous farmers about their risk perception for disease transmission. We used the ethnographic method and built life stories. From the per

Roughly one-fifth of the US population displays one or more symptoms of dyslexia: a specific learning disability that affects an individual's ability to process written language. Consequently, elementary school teachers are teaching students who struggle with inaccurate or slow reading, poor spelling, poor writing, and other language processing difficulties. Findings from studies have indicated that teachers lack essential knowledge needed to teach struggling readers, particularly children with dyslexia. However, few studies have sought to assess teachers' knowledge and perceptions about dysle

BACKGROUND: Monkeypox outbreaks in non-endemic countries emphasize the importance of being prepared to prevent its progression to a pandemic. To effectively control monkeypox, healthcare providers must have sufficient knowledge and good attitudes and practices to limit its spread. We initiated this project to assess the factors associated with health workers' knowledge and attitude toward monkeypox in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
METHODS: We included 398 eligible health workers working at various health facilities. Data was collected using an online survey, and participants had an opportunity t

The misuse of antimicrobials in livestock may lead to the emergence and spread of resistant pathogens harmful to human, animal, and environmental health. Therefore, determining the behavior and practices of farmers regarding antimicrobial use (AMU) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is crucial for addressing the growing threat of AMR. This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Eastern Province of Rwanda on 441 participants using a structured questionnaire to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) towards AMU and AMR. Frequency distributions, chi-square test of association

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Puerperal sepsis persists as an important global public health concern. It contributes substantially to death among mothers, notably in resource-constrained countries like Ethiopia, posing a significant challenge to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals. Despite advances in the accessibility of healthcare, a significant gap exists between knowledge, attitude, and practices, and these issues have received limited literature evidence in Ethiopia, particularly in study settings. Hence, this research focuses on assessing knowledge, attitudes, and self-care practices towa

Mean positive attitude scores were statistically different between the five groups, F(4, 178) = 2.63, P = 0.036). Mean knowledge scores between the five groups were statistically signi

While electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an effective therapeutic modality for the treatment of mental illness, negative attitudes and stigma exist about ECT in the general community and even within health services. Investigating interventions that improve the attitudes of health professionals towards ECT is beneficial as this reduces stigma and increases the acceptability of ECT for consumers. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the change in attitude of nursing graduates and medical students towards ECT by watching an educational video. The secondary aim was to compare health profe

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) implemented a concussion management pathway (CMP), aimed at improving management at community level. General Practitioners (GPs) played a large role in the design of this process. The objective of this study was to explore GPs' perceptions of barriers and facilitators of the CMP and rugby-related concussion management in the community. A descriptive qualitative approach using interviews and focus groups was employed. Four themes were derived: i) GPs' existing knowledge and confidence around concussion management; ii) Operational resources: time, remuneration and pathway
