Large intramyometrial cystic adenomyosis: a hysteroscopic approach with bipolar resectoscope: case report.

A case of an adenomyotic cyst in a 46-year-old woman was examined by means of transvaginal ultrasound, hysteroscopy and microscopy. The transvaginal ultrasound showed an anechoic area. Hysteroscopy revealed a cystic mass of the posterior wall and by means of a bipolar loop resectoscope the mass was removed. Histological examination of the lesion showed typical characteristics of an adenomyotic cyst. These results were consistent with those of previous reports and suggest that transvaginal ultrasound together with hysteroscopy is specific to diagnose and treat this kind of adenomyotic lesion.

[New aspects in therapy of proximal tubal occlusion: hysteroscopic proximal tubal catheterization].

To date, the therapy of first choice in case of proximal tubal pathology is resection of the occluded segment and microsurgical reconstruction. Essential disadvantage of this rather successful method consists in the need of a laparotomy. According to the concept of minimal invasiveness a pilot study has been undertaken to evaluate hysteroscopic proximal tube catheterization (HPTC) and balloon dilatation for recanalization. This attempt has proven intraoperatively successful in more than 80% of the cases and the first pregnancy and birth following HPTC can yet be reported.

Hysteroscopic treatment of congenital uterine malformations causing hemihematometra: a report of three cases.

To our knowledge, this is the first case report of hysteroscopic treatment of congenital uterine malformations with one-sided occlusion causing hemihematometra. This rare form of uterine anomaly should be considered when symptoms such as increasing pelvic pain start with menarche. A 9-mm resectoscope was used for dissecting the way into the occluded part of the uterine body. There the endometrium was ablated for prevention of recurrence of hemihematometra. By this endoscopic approach the disadvantages of laparotomy could be avoided in three adolescent patients.

Hysteroscopic myometrial biopsy: its use in diagnosing adenomyosis and its clinical application.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to develop and clinically evaluate a hysteroscopic myometrial biopsy for diagnosing adenomyosis. STUDY DESIGN: Ninety patients with menorrhagia had myometrial biopsies. The depth of adenomyosis was correlated with the severity of menorrhagia. RESULTS: Of the 90 patients studied, 50 had hysteroscopically normal appearing cavities (i.e., without polyps or submucous myomas). Of those 50, 33 (66%) had significant adenomyosis (greater than 1 mm) as compared with controls (0.8 mm). A statistically significant correlation between the depth of adenomyosis and

Incidence, significance and remission of tubal spasm during attempted hysteroscopic tubal sterilization.

Four hundred three attempted hysteroscopic tubal sterilizations were performed. Tubal spasm was encountered in 37 cases (9.2%) and prevented bilateral placement of tubal plugs in 16 of those cases. There was some evidence that glucagon was associated with a higher rate of remission and that women using barrier birth control methods experienced a lower incidence of tubal spasm. A number of other factors were found to be unrelated to tubal spasm and its remission.

A Rare Case of Uterine Artery Pseudoaneurysm After Hysteroscopic Management of Trophoblastic Disease.

INTRODUCTION: Uterine artery pseudoaneurysm (UAP) is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition, most commonly associated with childbirth and less frequently with intrauterine procedures such as dilatation and curettage or hysteroscopy. Its incidence is estimated at 3-6 per 1000 deliveries, whereas occurrence in the context of gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is extremely uncommon. UAP may remain asymptomatic before presenting as sudden vaginal hemorrhage days to weeks after uterine intervention. Prompt recognition and timely imaging are essential for effective management. Legal Lens on Hysteroscopy: A Retrospective Review of Medical Malpractice Claims of Hysteroscopic Procedures.

Background: Given the expansiveness of diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy, promptly recognizing complications and intervening as necessary to prevent adverse outcomes and minimize legal risk is imperative. We aim to describe the litigious trends in hysteroscopic procedures across the United States; Methods: Publicly available lawsuits published on a well-known legal database, Westlaw, were reviewed. The search term "'hysteroscop!'" was used to filter cases for court opinions containing words with this prefix, including "hysteroscopy", "hysteroscopies", and "hysteroscopic." Adverse events,
