The present study investigated the degradation of trichloroethylene (TCE) in sand suspensions by Fenton-like reaction with magnetite (Fe3O4) in the presence of various chelators at circumneutral pH. The results showed that ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) greatly improved the rate of TCE degradation, while [S,S]-ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid (s,s-EDDS), malonate, citrate, and phytic acid (IP6) have minimal effects on TCE degradation. INTRODUCTION: The Malone antegrad colonic enema (MACE) has been an option in the treatment of children with severe faecal incontinence or intractable constipation at Odense University Hospital.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We did a retrospective review of 32 case records and questionnaires completed by the patients. Pre-existing conditions included anorectal anomaly, myelomeningocele, Hirschsprung's disease and idiopathic constipation. Two complementary methods were used to determine how the rate of respiration and that of ATP hydrolysis were controlled in rat liver submitochondrial particles.
