We examined the distribution and population density of human mast cells in thyroid glands. The molecular form of UDP-glucuronosyltransferase involved in the catalysis of 3'-azido-3'-deoxythymidine (AZT)-5'-O-glucuronide was characterized in human liver microsomes. The influence of 1-benzylimidazole on the activities of hepatic monooxygenases cytochromes P-450 dependent, epoxide hydrolases and UDP-glucuronosyltransferases was investigated in male Wistar rats. In 14 cases of hairy cell leukemia unique vascular lesions not previously reported were observed in surgically resected spleens and hepatic biopsies.
