A survey of satisfaction and use among patients fitted with a BAHA.

We compared the indices of satisfaction and use among patients wearing an osseo-integrated prosthesis BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) according to the indications: conductive or mixed hearing loss (CHL) and patients with single side deafness (SSD). The study was carried out among patients wearing a BAHA fitted in one of three French departments between November 2001 and November 2005. Each patient received a postal questionnaire relating to the ease of use and the daily utilization period of the prosthesis, as well as a satisfaction rating (from 1 to 10) evaluating improvement in quality of l

Burden and marital and sexual satisfaction in the partners of bipolar patients.

OBJECTIVES: Bipolar disorder can be traumatic for both patients and patients' partners. Hence, partners' stress, burden, marital and sexual satisfactions are important areas to investigate. However, there have been problems with past attempts to identify the determinants of marital satisfaction in bipolar patients and their partners. The present study aimed to address these issues and provide an accurate description of relationship functioning in these couples. METHODS: The sample involved 37 partners of bipolar patients. A semi-structured interview assessed the impact of bipolar disorder on

A nursing application of telecommunications. Measurement of satisfaction for patients and providers.

Consumer and provider satisfaction is key to the continued use and expansion of telehealth technology. This pilot study compared satisfaction of providers and patients with wound consultations done in person with those done via real-time interactive video technology. Eleven telehealth consultations with a nurse expert were immediately followed by an in-person consultation with a second nurse expert. Satisfaction questionnaires were administered to patients, referring nurses, and the consultant nurse expert following both the in-person consultation and the telehealth consultation. The referring

Treatment Satisfaction and Patterns Among Primary Hyperhidrosis Patients.

Primary hyperhidrosis can substantially impair daily activities and psychosocial well-being. This single-center cross-sectional questionnaire study examined treatment use and factors associated with treatment satisfaction among 92 patients with primary hyperhidrosis recruited by treating physicians at a single clinic between 2024 and 2025. Treatment use was analyzed at the patient-treatment level using logistic regression with patient-level clustering. Factors associated with treatment satisfaction were evaluated using generalized estimating equation logistic regression, and sensitivity analys

Patient's Experiences and Satisfaction With Prehabilitation for Abdominal and Thoracic Surgery.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Prehabilitation has emerged as a vital component in preparing patients for surgery and has shown efficacy in minimizing post-operative complications and hospital length of stay. Although evidence indicates that prehabilitation improves patient outcomes, understanding patients' experiences is crucial for optimizing these programs to ensure they are effectively designed to meet patients' needs. This study aims to assess and summarize patients' experiences and satisfaction with a prehabilitation program offered prior to abdominal or thoracic surgery. METHODS: A cross-sect

Patients' satisfaction with heroin-assisted treatment: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Heroin-assisted treatment (HAT) involves supervised dispensing of medical heroin (diacetylmorphine) for people with opioid use disorder. Clinical evidence has demonstrated the effectiveness of HAT, but little is known about the self-reported satisfaction among the patients who receive this treatment. This study presents the first empirical findings about the patients' experiences of, and satisfaction with, HAT in the Norwegian context. METHODS: Qualitative in-depth interviews with 26 patients in HAT were carried out one to two months after their enrollment. Analysis sought to iden

Effective pain management and improvements in patients' outcomes and satisfaction.

Adequate pain management is a compelling and universal requirement in health care. Despite considerable advancements, the adverse physiological and psychological implications of unmanaged pain remain substantially unresolved. Ineffective pain management can lead to a marked decrease in desirable clinical and psychological outcomes and patients' overall quality of life. Effective management of acute pain results in improved patient outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. Although research and advanced treatments in improved practice protocols have documented progressive improvements in man…

Satisfaction of search in multitrauma patients: severity of detected fractures.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Satisfaction of search (SOS) occurs when an abnormality is missed because another abnormality has been detected. This research studied whether the severity of a detected fracture determines whether subsequent fractures are overlooked. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Each of 70 simulated multitrauma patients presented examinations of three anatomic areas. Readers evaluated each patient under two experimental conditions: when the images of the first anatomic area included a fracture (the SOS condition), and when it did not (the control condition). The SOS effect was measured on

Patient-reported satisfaction following a switch from reference denosumab to biosimilar denosumab: real-world data from a Canadian patient survey.

BACKGROUND: Following the approval of the first denosumab biosimilar in Canada, patients receiving long-term denosumab treatment for osteoporosis may be switched from the reference biologic to the biosimilar. Supporting patient-reported satisfaction following a switch will be critical to ensure treatment adherence, and foster patient confidence and ongoing acceptance of denosumab biosimilars. METHODS: This cross-sectional, multicenter, real-world survey in Canada included adults with osteoporosis switched from reference (Prolia®, Amgen) to biosimilar (Jubbonti®, Sandoz) denosumab (n = 435). Longitudinal changes in factors affecting postoperative patient satisfaction after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: an assessment using a patient-reported questionnaire.

BACKGROUND: Long-term survival can be achieved in patients with localized prostate cancer (PCa). Therefore, maintenance of postoperative quality of life (QOL) and treatment satisfaction are important. Although longitudinal changes in disease-specific QOL are reported, there are few studies investigating which factors longitudinally affect treatment satisfaction in patients who undergo robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Therefore, we examined the factors associated with treatment satisfaction over the first 12 months postoperatively based on an assessment using a patient-reported ques
